My DW received an offer of 4 days/3 nights in Orlando and 3 days/2 nights in Ft. Lauderdale associated with Celebration Timeshare, which included free passes to Universal Studios. The few details I received when I called back indicated it was offered by three companies, one being Disney and I can't remember the other two. One had Celebration as part of the name. We had our pick of three holtels to stay in - Ramada Plaza, Holiday Inn, and I can't remember the third. Anyone else heard of this?

Well, there is one good news about this. After six years of going to WDW the first of June for nine days (and a short trip either Oct or Dec the last two years) we were going to skip this year and just take our short October trip. We are now going June 17 to use this offer and add three more nights at OKW, one bedroom was available at two weeks out. My DS (14) has been bumbed out because we were not going and my DD (17) who originally has been saying she doesn't want to go now says she was wrong and can't miss our normal trip and must go. Needless to say we are one happy family thinking we had four months until we are "home" and now we are two weeks and we will be there.

I will let you all know what I find out about this Celebration Timeshare. Probably another one of those companies using the Disney name to get us to sit through a high pressure presentation.

Sounds very interesting. We try to extend our time in the area by attending other TS presentations- we are pretty good at saying "no thanks", and we avoid the high pressure companies. Do you have any indication that there will be a TS in Celebration?

Several months ago we recieved a survey from a company who had purchased property that was adjoined to Celebration. Disney had something to do with the purchase and this survey presented itself as a "Would you be more willing to buy if you knew that Disney and Celebration were involved" . They weren't bashfull about dropping Disney & Celebrations name several times. Just curious if this is a follow-up to that initial survey.

If this package is being offered by Ramada Plaza Resorts (which was the developer of the Celebration World timeshare), be careful. There's a long history of consumer complaints and lawsuits against Ramada Plaza Resorts. By the way, Ramada Plaza Resorts licenses the Ramada name; it is not owned by Ramada Inns.

Also, just because a telemarketer claims that Disney is somehow involved, does not mean that Disney really has anything to do with it.

I'm not saying that the particular offer that OKWKirt received is a scam, but just be careful.

Don't confuse this with Disney's Town of Celebration.
There are no timeshares in Celebration at the present time.
There is a company in the area that uses the name of Celebration to promote its timeshares. There is some legal glitch that enables it to do thisd even though it is misleading.

I was reading a hotel trade publication and a high end developer like Four Seasons was talking of timeshare in Celebration.

I just found the paper I took notes on about this. The three "quoted" partities with this timeshare presentation is Celebration Resorts, Vacation Showroom, and Disney.

I should have told my DW that we don't have a good track record with timeshares. We have gone to three presentations and have bought three timeshares. I'm sure we will say no this time because I want to put more into our third one at Big Ceder Wilderness Club instead of more in Florida.

I don't think this is related to this timeshare presentation but is probably the article that Niagara2 is referring to.

Developments in Celebration Area

It does mention Four Seasons planning to build near Celebration.

This may be legit but my 7th sense smells a rat. And I don't mean a "Disney" mouse. Why would a company so closely related to Disney offer passes to Disney's largest competitor in Orlando and offer free nights to competitors resorts. No, let me re-phrase that, motels. Celebration has a nice motel. Why not offer the nights there to let you check out your potential investment neigborhood. I think it's a pseudo name dropping real names to confuse potential investors.

Disney's town of Celebration is east of I-4 and just south of Highway 192. The official Web site for the town of Celebration is at http://www.celebrationfl.com/ .

The Celebration World timeshare resort has a Web site at http://www.celebrationworldresort.net/ . If you click on "Location" you'll see that the timeshare is not in the Town of Celebration, nor on Disney property. In fact, the timeshare is 3 miles west of I-4, and two miles south of Highway 192.

I'd be very careful.

I'm sure Disney is not involved in the timeshare so I'd be careful. I haven't heard good things about it. These type of offers are made all the time. Just say no either now or when you go but DO NOT BUY THERE NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT SOUNDS. Good luck.
