My wife and I would like to visit Celebration on our next visit to WDW in December. Could anyone give my some help with websites, hotels, etc. that we could contact to learn more info? Any help would be appreciated

I saw a one hour show about Celebration a couple of weeks ago, I can't remember which channel. They said Disney has sold Celebration, does anyone know if this is true? They interviewed current and former residents of Celebration. Like anything else some said living in this community lived up to expectations while others said it didn't.

yes it's true. Disney no longer owns Celebration.

Like all communities it has it's up and downs

Where can I get background info on Celebration? I've read tiny bits and pieces here and there, but I don't know much besides that Disney had a hand in it.

Was that the Dutch documentary? That was sooooooooo bad we :lmao: .

Disney owned the land, found the developers who built the town. Disney owned the downtown streets and buildings - they sold those a few years ago to another commercial management company. Disney is still active in the town - they still own some commercial property that they are developing.

We love going to Celebration for a visit.

In December they have nightly 'snow' on main street, horse & carriage rides & a train that takes you on a short tour of some of the area. A lot of the houses are decorated beautifully.

When we went this December we visited the farmers market on a Sunday & drank coffee on the lakeside (sitting in the rocking chairs).

We will go back in October when we are holidaying again!

We love going to Celebration too - it's such a lovely break from the parks :thumbsup2

I think there is only the one hotel by the lake if you are wanting to stay there otherwise you need to look at the 192 area. Check out www.celebrationhotel.com

I believe I saw the documentary on the Sundance Ch., but I'm not sure. It showed maybe 7 or 8 situations. I believe one couple had divorced and another couple had moved to another development in Florida that had a few very expensive homes. They said he had been called the "mayor" of Celebration. Another couple had moved to maybe, North Carolina. One lady that still lived in Celebration is an artist.

That's the one!! The "mayor" and his wife moved to Reunion. The couple that moved to the commune ended up moving back here cuz the commune was too "far out" for them, the artist is still here - very nice lady - she does the art shows.

The 360 effect was just sooooo creepy - and the way they had the couples sitting on the couch at either end, with the camera looking up from the floor - what was that about?

Please please please don't think that represents this town! Our weirdness is entirely different. :rotfl:

OMG, that Dutch video....BIZARRE! I promise you it is nothing like real life here in Celebration. If you want a realistic look at life here (at least in my own skewed view), I have a blog at http://celebrationfl.blogspot.com

Look at the older entries...I chronicled our house-building and move here from Chicago. It's a great place to visit (and live), made all the better by the amusement of seeing portrayals like that weird documentary and getting a good laugh at them.
