Celebration buttons

I've told Disney that we will be celebrating the youngest's child's birthday and the oldest's middle school graduation. But we've never visited WDW when the middle child, now 13, has had a special occasion. What does Disney consider a special occasion? I don't want to make something up! But she never seems to get specially recognized at the parks like her sisters do? Any suggestions? Last trip, they gave the two oldest "generic" buttons, we seem to always go on the youngest's birthday week!

We saw a couple with buttons that said "Celebrating Life" and "Celebrating Fun" so I think they will give you one for just about anything.

I do have to say that the Celebrating Life and Fun badges made us smile.

You can write just about anything on the badges - I'm celebrating my graduation - 6 months early.

Every day at Disney World is a celebration. Waking up in the morning and not having too many pains is a celebration. Going to sleep the same way is a celebration. LIFE is a celebration.

Disneyland has a pin that simply says, "I'm Celebrating!"

I'm guessing WDW has one very similar in design...

They do, and it has a blank space to fill something in.

One of the ones we noticed on this trip was "I'm Celebrating No School!". My group found it amusing and my friend said "Does that mean I can go get an "I'm Celebrating No Work" button? She's had a very rough year with work, so she really was celebrating being away from work while we were there

ETA: I wouldn't expect any special recognition for buttons, though...if you really want all children to be recognized specially on the trip, maybe you could arrange something yourself? Maybe ordering each child a mini-cake from the cake hotline and having it delivered to one of your reservations? (Don't tell them it's from you!). You could theme each mini cake to something that specific child enjoys

I guess I'm cynical because it seemed like everyone was getting free cupcakes for a birthday when we were in WDW a few weeks ago. I did wonder how many people were really having birthdays or said they were celebrating a birthday to get free stuff. My DD's birthday is about a month after our trip and I didn't put into the system that we were celebrating her BD because it felt weird to say that when it's not her BD.

See I'm not looking for free dessert (or free anything), we are on DDP so we get dessert anyway. But special touches like acknowledging our Anniversary or writing it on plates, menus etc, would be REALLY fun. It's our 20th anniversary and for the last few years (decade) either because of family illness or money we haven't done anything (for our anniversary) so this is a big deal for us!

How did you tell Disney you were celebrating something?

Disney has always asked us if we're celebrating anything. I was asked when we made our hotel reservations for this trip, when we made ADRs, and again when we checked in at our hotel.

How about celebrating a non birthday, a half birthday, or celebrating being the middle?

You can get any buttons you want. No questions asked.

They even have a generic "I'm Celebrating" button.
