Okay, so the first week in December, my husband and I are going to be at WDW, staying at the Yacht Club, but this is going to be a special trip. We'll have with us one companion who is having a birthday while we're there (He's turning 46) and we'll have our adoptive daughter with us, celebrating her first year with us and away from an abusive situation that she was stuck in for 18 years.

SO, I want to do something really special for the both of them and I could use some help brainstorming. Got any ideas folks?

It really could be anything. Do you want a special meal? A special experience or both?
A special meal - could be character involved or not. A special experience could be a special tour?
I think it really depends on what your family would like as a special experience and how much you want to spend. Special anything in WDW usually doesn't come cheap but they are special.

Making sure you note anything special on reservations and with cast members is a must. You could get nothing more than a "happy____, or congratulations" from the CM's but sometimes pixie dust does appear just for mentioning the occasion.
Free buttons at the hotel front desk will commemorate 1st visit, anniversary, birthday, etc. Get those and wear them. CM's look for them.
I've seen some people just get special T-shirts like from Etsy for their celebrations as well. It just depends on how elaborate you want to go.

What are you looking for???? The sky is the limit.

For a special meal, you could do anything from a fancy restaurant like Monsieur Paul or a restaurant with a view like Narcoossee's.

Visit https://www.disneyfloralandgifts.com/ if you want to do something special in the room like balloons, flowers, etc...

You can have a cake ordered and delivered to the room or restaurant. There are multiple threads on here talking about Disney Cakes.

I think two things you should no matter what else you decide on (as mentioned by @Barbydoll8 ), get a "Celebration" button and let everyone know you are celebrating something - when you make your resort and dinning reservations, when you check-in at the resort, when you check-in at a restaurant, etc..

How about one of the after-hours events at whatever park everyone would like best. I know I'm not invited, but I'd pick DAK! If you've got the financial wherewithal to really splurge, perhaps hiring a tour guide for the day--but, you know, we're talking thousands here, not hundreds. But thought I'd mention it.
