We were up and out quite early and got to Universal for 9am, having the AP’s meant we parked for free. As the weather looked good we immediately changed into shorts and off we went. It looked quite busy walking into Citywalk but once we were at the Universal gates it looked a lot better.

Once inside we thought we had the park to ourselves!

First stop was the Simpsons and it was no more than a ten minute wait :thumbsup2

It was a beautiful day and the place was still empty!

As we walked over to the Mummy we saw the DeLorean from BTTF.

Along with a part of the train.

We could clearly see a new track for a rollercoaster being built near to the New York area where Twister is, now this looks interesting!

Then it was time for 2 goes on the Mummy which was a walk on  After this we went on Twister and Shrek, Jaws was closed :( So we walked back through San Francisco giving Earthquake a miss as it is one of our least favourite attractions.

The New York area was decorated for Mardi Gras.

We then decided it was time to grab a bite to eat at the Beverly Hills boulangerie. I had the cookie and chocolate milk, while Nathan had the éclair and orange juice.

The it was time for Terminator 2:3D and a walk around to have a look at the new rollercoaster in more detail.

Even now the park was still very quiet.

There was also the poster advertising the theme and name, although the theming looks familiar :rolleyes1

I must say the coaster goes quite a way of the park towards the HRC.

By now it was mid afternoon and shopping was calling so we headed off to the Prime Outlets and hit the shops.

Although food was also calling so we stopped off for a Subway. I had the chicken and Nathan had the beef.

After this we were feeling refreshed and carried on with the shopping :goodvibes

Once back at SSR it was time to pack for our move the following day to the Boardwalk Inn. Not feeling too hungry we went over to the Artist’s Palette but couldn’t find anything we liked so ended up with burgers at the Turf Club Bar and Grill, which went down very nicely with several Bud Lights :) Along with the bread!

After that it was time to go back and get some sleep.

Sounds like a good day. The new coaster does look good doesnt it.
There is a video on youtube - taken for the point of view of a rider. There is a link to it in the Universal section of the Dis if I remember correctly.
Can't wait to give it a go.
Some pretty impressive shopping there as well.

how nice to have most rides as a walk on :thumbsup2 . quite a nice collection of shopping bags

Another lovely day. We usually go in the summer when there are peak crowds at all the parks but went in December (as you may remember) and I was amazed at how quiet Universal/Islands were. The Disney parks were still busy though. I think FOTL in the summer but the rest of the time not as essential.

Great shopping day :thumbsup2.I like the look of Nathan's eclair.
We will be going for our first Mardi Gras on 4th April, and i am really looking forward to it-MC Hammer is playing.
I will never forget when me+hubby went to Universal and a girl about 19 was having her picture taken in front of the DeLorean and 'Doc' was standing in front of the car-she must have thought he was a statue.Well he jumped at her+the poor girl screamed+cried so much.x.

great photos especially of the new ride. I didn't even realise there was going to be a new ride so soon.
