Do you actually have to be at WDW on your birthday to say you are celebrating your birthday? My birthday is a couple weeks later but I wasn't able to get off of work. This trip is definetely a very expensive birthday present for myself. My 20th wedding anniversary is also a couuple weeks later also but since my DH isn't going that probably wouldn't work.:rotfl:
Thanks!!!!:)

I don't have a problem with it. I doubt Disney has a problem with it. They celebrate the parks' birthdays for at least a year.

There will be some who answer this who think it's not correct, especially if the celebrator is looking to be given upgrades or other free congratulatory items by CMs.

Thanks for the response. I actually am staying CL level at my resorts already(got great deals)so I am not looking for an upgrade. A special birthday dessert would be nice but I am on the dining plan so I will get plenty of food. I will be honest with AKL IPO about my birthday and let them decide what is appropriate. I am not dishonest .I am just not sure what the guidelines are so I thought I would ask the experts.
Thanks again!!!!
:)

We were there September 1 - 9 and my 50th is actually not until December. But because our son wrestles in college and has a huge tournament over the Christmas holidays, there was no way we could go to Disney for my actual birthday (it is the 30th of December). We love Disney, but I wouldn't miss watching my son wrestle for anything. So we just moved the trip up and celebrated in September. Disney had no problem with it...just told them it was my 50th birthday trip...didn't tell them what the actual date of my birthday was.

We are going just before Thanksgiving and my bday isn't until Dec 14.....well, this is a big one FOUR OHHHH (don't tell anyone!) So, this is my birthday party/present from my dh!!! I plan to celebrate there!

I arrived the day after my birthday and had a CM give me a birthday button to wear when I got my AP pass. I didn't ask, she just handed it to me. That night we celebrated my birthday with friends at Boma. We had a cupcake and card given to me by the staff. I also celebrated the next day with my friend by doing an "E Ride Tour" of AK, MGM and Epcot. After that I was done celebrating and stopped wearing pins except one a friend made saying "Elaine's Birthday Trip"

I don't have an issue if it is just a day or the like. I did two days because I was with two totally different friends and each wanted to do something special for my birthday. I don't always celebrate my birthday on the exact date, so I saw this as the same.

If it is much later than a day or week, I think it is okay if you only do it for one day/meal. You can say it is your birthday/anniversary etc trip, but I wouldn't try to have something at every meal and the like. JMO

Disney does not care. Like someone already mentioned Disney celebrates their B-days for over a year at a time.

Disney's opinion on the matter is they know not everyone can get their special day off (Be it B-day, anniversary, etc) and they would much rather you come on another day (and spend all of your money :rolleyes1 ) to celebrate then not come at all.

Thank you all for the great responses. The next time I email AKL IPO I will tell them that I wasn't able to get off work for my birthday but my trip to WDW was my birthday gift and I would be celebrating it early at WDW . I will let them decide what if anything is appropriate.I am just grateful to be going to WDW.:yay:

Just wanted to add that Disney is great about understanding birthdays cannot always be celebrated on the exact day at Disney. My 60th is on Thanksgiving this year, but we are going for a special birthday trip, staying at the Polynesian :) :) early December.

The CM was great and nicely encouraged me to let him make note of it in the reservation ~ he already knew the exact date as Disney keeps that info in the system if a guest is registered on line. I couldn't believe it when he mentioned the actual date!! LOL

Have a great birthday trip!!! :)

Thank you!!!!You have a great birthday trip also!!!!!!My birthday is actually 01/04 which is only 10 days after Christmas so we don't really celebrate it that much. My husband works a different shift than I do so I am usually have to spend my Birthday alone and we will go out for a nice dinner(yes I mean without a coupon:rotfl: ) I think it would be great to celebrate my Birthday at WDW.:yay:

Another almost holiday birthday!

Kata, and definitely get a birthday pin! Have never done this (well, never celebrated a birthday at Disney before either), but my friend insists that we get one ~ so will have to come out of my shy shell and wear the pin.:)

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to you!!:flower3:

Last March 06 I decided when I turn 50 this Nov 13 that the place I most want to be is celebrating w/Off Kilter!!! (hoping they're playing that Tues).
Im booked at Pop 11/9-11 and at BCV 11/11-16
Am i planning on WDW giving me a birthday bash? well it would be nice but I made several plans myself

I booked the segway tour day before my birthday and the dolphin encounter for my real 50th birthday morning (honest I'll be w/the dolphins when I turn 50!)
I booked a sitdown lunch for most every day
I bought tick to MVMCP
Im having lunch w/the princesses at Norway
Im attending a Food & Wine pairing and a cheese tasting
Im joining a family for the Wishes birthday cruise
Im getting myself a slipper dessert at GF Cafe
and I'll be at as many Off Kilter shows as possible

enjoy your birthdays but plan it for yourself - that way you cant be disappointed and whatever WDW does (if anything) is extra

So true!!! I agree completely...but do not think most guests go to Disney looking for something because it is a birthday (or other special day). Think most just want to be in that magical place for their special occasion.:cool1:

I'm going with a wonderful friend (we'll celebrate both of our birthdays) and staying at the Polynesian - which is celebration enough for me!! Have ADR's at the places we most enjoy and plan on taking time to see every 'Santa' in World Showcase :santa: .

Happy Birthday to you too!:flower3:

I would love to celebrate my birthday in Disney. I turn 21 in April but because of school and then work for my sister in May we're going in June, we check in two months from the day I turn 21. I'm not going to mention it, I may order a cake but otherwise than that I'm happy as heck to be going and I'm going to get me a drink in Mexico. I'm not brave enough to wear the birthday button. I would be a few lovely shades of red.

When I booked our trip, I told the CM we were celebrating my daughter's 2nd birthday (she is turning 2 while we are there) and that we are belatedly celebrating our 10th anniversary (anniversary is in June we are going Oct/Nov).

When I call to confirm reservations and requests I will reitterate these celebrations and hope for the best.

Enjoying your trip will be your best birthday gift.

And from the Troop o' Goofs.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :cake:
a little early

1. MVMCP
2. Cirque Du soleil
