Celebrating at POFQ/AKL in September 2015! COMPLETE

Is like to think I'm fashionably late to the party, but 18 pages in May just be rude ; ) I'm all caught up now though! Looks like you all are having a great time, despite the sickness. And all the food!!!!!!! I'm in proverbial Disney dining heaven

Love the Poly! Love it! Can't wait until the day comes when I can stay there!

And mmm, Ohana. I'll be feasting there in about 5 weeks! I saw ya'll got the salad... Did they switch back from those awful lettuce cups?

LOVE the view from the beach!!

Love the rainbow at Poly! I agree on the Ohana singer, I'm not a fan. I think that's something that can go.

Yeah, the meal would be much more enjoyable without the live "entertainment" for sure!

:welcome: So excited to have you along! Nah, you're still fashionably late, no worries! :teeth: There's still more food to come, although the final two days of the trip I'll have to use pics my dad took and ask my parents for info for this report since I was a wimpy sick person who stayed back at the resort. :crazy2:

Lovely pictures of the Poly - I missed that resort on my last trip. I can't yet let go of Wishes in front of the castle, but the Water Parade looked really neat. Could be very romantic with cooperative weather... :rolleyes1

Thanks! It's definitely a resort I would recommend visiting - and of course I'd love to stay there someday, after I win the lottery of course. :thumbsup2

One bonus is that it's a lot less crowded watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly. There were only about a dozen people gathered to watch that night!

You and me both!! :cheer2:

I didn't see any lettuce cups. Our last trip was 5 years ago and I don't remember those - sounds like we weren't missing out on much!

LOVE the view from the beach!!

Me too - and the show on the water was a very nice bonus! I kept imagining how cool it would be to be staying in one of the bungalows over the water. Now that would definitely require a lottery win! :faint:

We managed to get out of Japan without purchasing anything

That shop is the best!! I wanted it all too! I am jealous of the amount of stuff you saw and did at Epcot. We only had one day there and it wasn't nearly enough!! I really want to spend more time exploring the countries one day.

Also I'm so with you about POFQ - I loved it because of it's small size and that you could walk over to POR, but I don't think I'd stay there either. Way too big.

Your food all looks delicious at Le Cellier!

The World Showcase is so gorgeous and the details are amazing, I wish we had spent more time there.

We also saw the American Adventure, I enjoyed it.

I agree, the walk to the monorail is quite the hike, especially coming from the entire opposite side.

Beautiful picture of the rainbow after the storm and pictures of the beautiful Poly!

Ohana, yum yum yum!!! That was our favorite meal at WDW!! Sorry you had a noisy baby and the off tune singer. We had her too, but she stayed more on the opposite side of the restaurant than us. The bread pudding was the best dessert we had, we still talk about it.

That's awesome that you were able to enjoy the music, fireworks and electrical water pageant at the Poly beach. That was one thing I had wanted to do as we

Hi guys! So, I've really neglected this PTR/TR lately. My laptop with all of my photos on it was really going downhill after owning it for 6 years so I finally replaced it. Problem is that I can't get it to cooperate to get my photos transferred to my new laptop. I'll keep trying!

Hope you're all having a great December so far - busy month for everyone I'm sure!

Hey everyone! :wave2:

I FINALLY got my photos off of my old laptop!!

Updates to come! Just need to try to remember the details now... might be a bit fuzzy information wise but I'll post pics of the rest of our trip at least!

I also have some exciting news about a future birthday trip to WDW!!

Okay... where was I? Ah yes, we had just finished watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly and headed to the boat launch to catch a ride to the MK for evening EMH's! :thumbsup2

At the MK, we were greeted by this cheerful Mickey pumpkin before heading in to get my mom a wheelchair.

We then headed over to the Haunted Mansion, one of our favorites. The wait time was listed as 13 minutes, which apparently is the number they put up when there isn't a wait! Spooky! :D

IMG_2442.JPG

After picking up our hitch-hiking ghost, we meandered over toward New Fantasyland, passing by the Tangled bathrooms all lit up for the evening.

IMG_2445.jpg

And the beautiful tower...

IMG_2447.jpg

We turned at the carousel and made our way out of the park for the evening (as far as I can remember)... I don't think we rode anything else. We were coming back the following day!

The next morning, we checked out of POFQ and asked them to transfer our bags to the final resort of our stay - the AKL!

We hopped on a bus to MK and were on our way! After arriving and making our way up Main Street, we headed over to enjoy the Country Bear Jamboree. I remember loving this one as a kid, but was a little underwhelmed by it this time. Oh well, the nostalgia factor was still there!

IMG_2474.jpg

It was pretty hot already, so our next stop was for a refreshing treat and a bit of relaxation in the shade!

IMG_2485.jpg

Oh man, these tasted SO good - I'm not a huge fan of dole whips, so opted for this orange and vanilla swirl. Yum!

We made our way around to the Haunted Mansion again (told you it was a favorite!) and then checked out the new gift shop for it.

IMG_2487.jpg

Then we made our way toward New Fantasyland to check out the Tangled area in the daylight. The restrooms are so well done!

IMG_2495.jpg

We loved all of the details inside the women's restroom. Not sure what the men's restroom looked like, ha!

IMG_2490.jpg

After taking more photos of a restroom than I ever have in my life, we made our way back up to Main Street. I was excited to watch the new parade that I'd heard rave reviews about!

The parade we were heading to watch was the 3pm Festival of Fantasy Parade!

First up, I took a beauty shot of the castle...

IMG_2497.jpg

Then we had a bit of time to kill so we perused the selection at the candy shop. So tempting but we didn't get anything!

IMG_2498.jpg

We made our way up to the train station platform to watch the parade from above. I loved the parade, and especially the dragon float, which I somehow cannot find any photos for! But here are some of the photos I do have!

IMG_2515.jpg

After enjoying the parade, my mom and I decided to head over to the AKL to see if our room was ready (we were HOT and ready for a break) while my dad decided to stay and poke around the park some more.

You also may remember that we had scheduled a time slot to see a DVC unit at the AKL on our check in day. Well... due to the parade and the time it took to reach the lodge via the bus from MK, we missed that appointment. They did contact me after I returned home though and sent me a very nice packet of info along with a dvd. We are still mulling over the idea of going in together on one but need to do more research.

So... on to our check in at the AKL!

We arrived and our room was ready but they were having issues with their computers so were told we'd need to come back down to the lobby in a couple of hours to complete the check in process. At least they let us go to the room right away though!

IMG_2519.jpg

IMG_2520.jpg

We loved our room and our view wasn't too bad either. We'd booked a standard view and ended up getting a rooftop/pool view which was nice (anything is better than the parking lot)!

IMG_2522.jpg

IMG_2523.jpg

We called down to see if our luggage had arrived and found out that it had accidentally been taken over to Kidani. They went and got it for us and brought it to our room, which took about 20 minutes or so. After we got our stuff, we went down to the lobby to meet my dad. We were heading over to Sanaa for dinner!

IMG_2526.jpg

IMG_2527.jpg

IMG_2534.jpg

We shared the flat bread sampler which came with 9 different dipping sauces. I loved the cucumber sauce the best! I think my parents each got a meal as well, but I didn't take pics apparently. I was not feeling very hungry.

IMG_2530.jpg

We also split a dessert, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was or if it was good... but here's a pic of it! :lmao:

IMG_2533.jpg

So... it was during this meal that I began to not feel so good. I could tell I was coming down with something, and hoped it would just be a mild cold. Boy, was I mistaken. I ended up being sick for almost six weeks. I made it through one more day of our trip and then spent the rest of it enjoying the lovely AKL. lol

Anyway, we headed out of the main lobby of Kidani (love the lighting in this area) and back to Jambo House to go to bed after another eventful day.

Next Up: Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, Take 2 - the best evening of the entire trip!

Yea!!! You're back!!!!

Why is it that colds & sickness always come on vacations?? I get that it because vacation full of new germs, but why, oh why does it have to happen during the fun times?

I know, seriously!! It probably didn't help that I sat next to a hacking woman on my flight to Orlando. Pretty sure she was the source of my virus from h-e double l! I hate flying!

It looks remarkably un-crowded in this picture!

I was thinking the same thing looking at that photo! It was more crowded during the trip than we were expecting it to be but there were still some quieter times luckily. :)

Yeah, getting sick was no fun. And even though I was at WDW, at that point I really just wanted to be home in my own bed.
