Celebrating 9 days with my 4 kids(7,6,4,2)May 2009, I know I'm late starting this TR

Great update.

Can't wait to hear more.

Thanks, I am waiting to here more about yours. Get back on there and get to writing.

I just found your report, and I love it!

Yay!:yay:I am glad you are here. I see that you just got back from a vacation. I have always wanted to go at Christmas time, but I am scared of the crowds. I noticed on your TR that you did it without your kids, that is probably what I would have to do to go at Christmas. I also want to say that your granddaughters are soooo beautiful!!

I was just laughing looking back at the picture of Donald(DS4) blowing out the candle on his cupcake because Lego(DS6) is in the background loading up his bread with some butter. My wanna be chef used to eat butter by the stick when he was younger. He definitely knows how to make something taste good, add more butter! :rotfl2:

Now that dinner was done, I knew it was time to leave. I would have loved to stay since the majority of the crowds were gone now(all of the school groups), but my kids needed to do some relaxing. I knew that Lego(DS6) was wanting to go to the lego store, but I also didn't want him to get his way for nagging me all day long. But on the other hand, I didn't want him to ruin his time at the parks by longing to be at the lego store. We usually don't even go to DTD until the last day so the kids can pick out their souvenirs. I came up with a compromise. We would go back to the pool and go swimming and then if he was really good the next day, we would go to the lego store after our dinner at Boma's. He agreed and said that he wouldn't nag me to go to the lego store at all while we were at the Animal Kingdom the following day.:cloud9: So back to the room we went.

On the way out we saw another photopass photographer and decided to get a picture of us in front of the castle from a different angle. The photographer was wanting us to get the kids out of the strollers, but they were exhausted and Donald(DS4) was furious that I was making him take, yet again, another photo. He was so tired of me taking pictures. I had to keep telling him that when he was older he would be so glad he had so many pictures to look back at. Also, I didn't want to ever hear him say, " why do the other kids have more pictures than me? It's not fair." I grew up with 7 brothers and sisters, and two of my sister's used to always count the pictures in the house to see who had the most pictures. :rolleyes2

Here are the photopass pictures, you can see Donald(DS4) starting to get mad
Image041.jpg

Then Princess(DD2) gives him the stare
Image039.jpg

Now Donald(DS4) is refusing to even look at the camera
Image033.jpg

Me and DH, this was our 9 year anniversary as well, but we didn't celebrate it with all the birthdays going on. It's always more about the kids!!;)
Image034.jpg

Now it was time for my favorite part of the day, lugging on those dad burn strollers with four worn out kids clinging to our legs. The bus wasn't too crowded, so it was ok. We then had to find our building as we hadn't even unpacked yet. We had requested bldg 14, but it was full so they put us in bldg 15. This was fine because it was pretty close to everything. My kids were so excited when they saw the room.

We had this towel Mickey on the bed
campingandDisney2009276.jpg

Here is lego(DS6) with his new burst of energy trying out the bed
campingandDisney2009278.jpg

Here is the trundle bed that Lego(DS6) decided he was going to sleep on. I was going to have them all take turns sleeping here, but nobody else wanted too. Lego(DS6) loved it.

Here is the sink area

and here is the mirror
campingandDisney2009280.jpg

sorry, I didn't get any pictures of the bathroom.

After unpacking our stuff, we put on our swimsuits and headed out to the pool
campingandDisney2009283.jpg

This is where it got a little confusing. There were paths everywhere, and signs pointing to the pool in each direction. I was so confused, but we found some people headed that way and just followed them. I recommend taking your POR map with you when you are walking the grounds, until you learn your way around. It can get confusing. We saw this, and knew we were close.
campingandDisney2009284.jpg

It was getting dark, so it is kind of hard to see these next pics. Sorry.
DH took these of Princes(DD2), but they are kind of blurry
campingandDisney2009289.jpg

campingandDisney2009287.jpg

this next one you can see part of the pool, but you don't see the fun part. It is off to the left. They had a big bucket looking thing that dumped water, and a water slide. If I was the one with the camera, I would have gotten a picture. My DH is too embarrassed to be seen in a swimsuit, so I am always the one who gets in with the kids.
campingandDisney2009285.jpg

We headed back to the room and everyone went to bed about 9:30. I stayed up until 11:30 because I was taking notes, I keep journals for my kids and I was trying to write in them. Will the kids sleep in? We will see...

I LOVE all the pics of POR! I can't wait to see it in person! I will make sure to keep my map handy, though, it does sound really huge. All the pics with the princess and Winnie the Pooh characters are so cute. I can't wait to read more!

The days we were there were still considered "value" and we were pleasantly surprised at the crowd level. It was very manageable! :thumbsup2

Also, I didn't want to ever hear him say, " why do the other kids have more pictures than me? It's not fair."

That is so true! I try to be fair, but I still haven't even finished DD11 baby book! :rolleyes1

Now it was time for my favorite part of the day, lugging on those dad burn strollers with four worn out kids clinging to our legs.

Oh my gosh, I remember that! The first time we went to Disney (and the only time with strollers), I was 6 months pregnant with #3. #1 and #2 were each in single strollers and DH had to lug them both by himself while I tried to manuever getting the kids on the bus. Good time, good times...:rotfl:

The good thing is that even if you get lost, it is still really beautiful and scenic. Just being on the grounds was relaxing. Here is a link to the resort map. I found this very helpful. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm

That is good to know. Now I will definitely have to plan a trip for this time of year. It will have to be for 2011 though, :sad2: We are wanting to pay off our debts first. Oh well, a trip to Disney keeps me motivated!

I know that feeling.:rotfl:

I can't believe that you had to do that while 6 months pregnant. That would definitely put a damper on things.

So who woke up first? Me of course. I couldn't contain my excitement. I woke up at 6:00 and started posting some of my pics from my phone to my facebook account. Donald(DS4) was the next one up at 6:20, followed by Lego(DS6) at 6:40, Goofy(DS7) at 7:00, and Princess(DD2) at 7:20. My DH got up around 7:30. My kids have never been big sleepers, and anything past 6:30 is sleeping in for them. I was excited because today was Princess's(DD2) birthday. She was officially two, and I had a big surprise planned for this evening. I was nervous though because now I also had to squeeze in a trip to DTD after dinner, and I knew she would be exhausted by the time we got around to the big surprise. You will have to wait and see about the surprise. My kids don't eat a lot in the mornings, so I just brought a bunch of snack stuff and doughnuts with us for the room. This is what we ate for breakfast everyday. Anyhow, we got dressed and over to the bus stop at about 8:20. I was surprised because there wasn't anyone headed to the AK. Tour Guide Mike really knew what he was doing with his recommended days, because we went by his plan and it seemed to work really well. Here we are at the bus stop with our lovely strollers. :thumbsup2
campingandDisney2009290.jpg

and here is a picture from our not so crowded bus

campingandDisney2009292.jpg

Let me just tell ya. Here is where I saw for the first time and certainly not the last, a lady rockin the mullet like I have never seen it rocked before. I hope I don't offend any mullet lovers out there, but this thing was seriously at least 6 inches high on top, and the back was halfway down her back. When they say "business in the front and party in the back", well, she was way party in the front. :lmao: I wonder how many cans of hairspray she had to pack. Seriously. I tried so hard to get a picture without being noticed, but I was trying to fast and every picture came out blurry. I didn't want to offend her so I used my cell phone, still every picture was blurry. My husband told me not to worry about it, we would probably see her later since she was at the same resort. This was not a long bus ride, and we made it to AK in time for rope drop. We got there probably around 10 till 9:00, and there still weren't a lot of people there. See how close we were to the little opening number?
campingandDisney2009295.jpg

campingandDisney2009296.jpg

Upon entering, we were greeted by a CM holding this
campingandDisney2009294.jpg

Here is a closer look
campingandDisney2009293.jpg

 I hate spiders!! Goofy(DS7) loves anything crawly and gross, so he loved this. Too bad, so sad, he will never have a pet spider or a pet snake while he is in my house. We didn't exactly go by the plan on this day since it turned out not to be too crowded. The first place we headed was to the back, you know, the Safari. I think everyone was headed this way as well, but it still didn't turn out to have a wait. I hate how you have to take your strollers in this line, and then get out of line to park them. In the meantime, everyone without strollers are passing by. It totally stresses me out. Here came our ride.
086.jpg

085.jpg

and off we went. There were lots of animals out, and it wasn't too hot yet so this was a great ride. I know there are a lot of Safari pics out there, so I am not going to post all of mine. Here are some of them.
campingandDisney2009299.jpg

in case you are wondering, these are hippo's

We got off our ride, and then it took us forever to find our strollers. Once we had the strollers in hand, we headed off towards Dinoland.

On the way to Dinoland we stopped off to get FP's for EE. This is where having some kids that are too small to ride comes in handy. We could get 5 FP's plus parentswap, and we only had one kid that wanted to ride. So with the parent swap this gave us 4 rides on EE plus one FP leftover. I would find myself a lot with extra FP's, so I would just give them to people nearby. A lot of people thought I was trying to sell something because they would hurry and walk away from me while I was trying to explain that I had extra. :confused3 Oh Well. After picking up our FP's we headed into Dinoland. There was nobody there. My kids don't like the dinosaur ride because it is really loud, so the only thing we do here is the TS and play a few games. We got on the TS because those lines usually look shorter than they really are. There were only 2 families in front of us here.

I took these pictures
campingandDisney2009314.jpg

campingandDisney2009316.jpg

You can see that there is nobody standing in line. I think by the time we did the safari and got our FP's and got over here it was almost 10:00.

campingandDisney2009315.jpg

and then the CM asked if she could take a picture of all of us for me. I was so excited and thought that was so nice of her. I guess also because there wasn't a lot of people she didn't mind. She took these next two.

campingandDisney2009319.jpg

campingandDisney2009318.jpg

Thanks to the very kind CM!!! Then I purposefully sat in front of my boys so I could get a picture of them flying.

campingandDisney2009320.jpg

I swear Lego(DS6) wasn't picking his nose. He was scratching his cheek.

campingandDisney2009322.jpg

campingandDisney2009321.jpg

We rode TS one more time just for fun and then decided that since there was nobody else in dinoland, now would be our chance to play those little carnival games and win some prizes. :cheer2: My kids always want to do these, but we have always just walked by. Of course they do the one where you squirt water at the target and the first one who gets their thing up the pole wins. So we had all four of them play against each other four times. I helped Princess(DD2) of course. I also had to teach Goofy(DS7) that sometimes it is better to let other people win so that they can feel the excitement of winning as well. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures. After they each picked out a little stuffed bear we asked a CM where the dinoland character meet n greet was. She pointed over to the big fence area, so we walked that away. We were surprised when we came around the corner and saw 2 special dogs, with no line. Of course we had to get our picture taken, and there was a photopass photographer there so here are the photopass photos.

Here is princess looking at Goofy and Pluto, but not so sure she wanted to get in the picture with them. She warmed up to them later in the trip.

The boys said they would go and get a picture.

It was now time for DH and Goofy(DS7) to go ride EE. This was their first time riding it and they were so excited. I had to walk all the way over with them so I could get the parent swap, and then I walked back to the boneyard playground so the younger kids could play while we waited on DH and Goofy(DS7) I will post those pics in the next installment.

Awww love all the new pics!!! Can't wait to see what your little princess' surprise was!!!

Here is where I saw for the first time and certainly not the last, a lady rockin the mullet like I have never seen it rocked before.

Awww, man...now I really want to see it! :rotfl:

We found the same thing...very strange...:confused3

Great update!

Thanks. I am trying to post a new installment everyday, so hopefully we will get to it either today or tomorrow.

Awww, man...now I really want to see it! :rotfl:

You might get the opportunity to see her on one of your next trips. Trust me, if you ever see her, you will know who I am talking about.

We found the same thing...very strange...:confused3

I guess not everyone understands the FP system. Some of mine would be way past the time allotment so maybe people thought they couldn't use them still?

Great update!

Thanks!

Wow, loving your TR! Can't wait to find out what happens next. You have a beautiful family.:goodvibes

Thanks!I am trying to not drag this out, so hopefully I can do at least one installment a day. I really should be doing laundry right now, but I am a big time procrastinator when it comes to laundry.:laundy:

I'm really enjoying reading your TR! I believe you said your DD's name is Mia. That's my DD's name too and she'll be just 2 weeks shy of her 2nd birthday on our trip. I can't wait to see how she reacts to everything.

My DS is a huge Lego fan too. I'll ask him "What are you looking forward to the most on our next trip?" His answer is always "the Lego store". Seriously son, we could just go to Toys R Us for those. He does love all the rides too so I know he does enjoy himself at the parks. But I do get to hear some whining from him to go to the Lego store too.

I can't wait to read your next installment!

Alright, moving right along on day 2, May 2nd, at the AK. So, DH and Goofy(DS7) took off to EE while I took the other kids to the boneyard to play.
Let me just note that this kind of, sort of, REALLY stressed me out!! This playground is really big, and there is a bridge that you go across to get to the area where you can dig in the sand to find fossils. Princess(DD2) didn't want to go up on the big slide so I just sat with her on the little slide. Well, Donald(DS4) and Lego(DS6) didn't want to just sit at the little slide, they wanted to go play. I told them they could go play, but they had to check in with me every five minutes. I also told them that they could not go to the dig pit unless I was with them so they would have to wait until Princess(DD2) was ready to go over there.

Just on a side note, I was almost kidnapped when I was 6 years old. Hence, I am very overprotective. I was so sick to my stomach that I couldn't see my kids the whole time we were in there. I could feel my gray hairs growing while I watched Princess(DD2) and constantly looked and listened for Donald(DS4) and Lego(DS6). :scared1:

Anyway, when you first walk into the boneyard there is this Jeep. So the kids climbed on it while I took some pictures.

campingandDisney2009326.jpg

campingandDisney2009328.jpg

Here are the little slides that Princess(DD2) wanted to play on the whole time. The boys went down a couple of times before they wanted to go explore the big slide.

campingandDisney2009334.jpg

See them at the top?
campingandDisney2009333.jpg

Lego(DS6) coming out of the slide. I also must admit he was very good this day. He didn't ask about the lego store until after we left the park.

campingandDisney2009336.jpg

campingandDisney2009337.jpg

campingandDisney2009339.jpg

and here are some various playground pics. I only let my boys go out of my sight for a few minutes before I couldn't stand it anymore, so I grabbed Princess(DD2) and we followed them around.

campingandDisney2009340.jpg

campingandDisney2009341.jpg

campingandDisney2009344.jpg

campingandDisney2009335.jpg

I then told them we could walk over to the digpit. I didn't get a picture of the big bridge to get there, but here is a picture of the digpit.

campingandDisney2009343.jpg

and Lego(DS6) in the digpit.

campingandDisney2009342.jpg

The kids didn't want to stay here long because I believe there was a sign that said "shoes must be worn" and I don't know of any little kid that likes the feeling of sand in their shoes. I know Lego(DS6) didn't have his shoes on in that picture, but I am pretty sure they told him he had to put his shoes on. So, after about 2 minutes in the digpit, we headed back to the front of the playground since I was sure DH would be back soon. Sure enough he came back within about 5 minutes. It was now almost 11:00 so we decided we would head over to get some lunch at Flame tree bbq.
On our walk over there we saw this in the sky.

campingandDisney2009346.jpg

campingandDisney2009348.jpg

I don't know why, but I loved that there was a plane that made a smiley in the sky. Then Donald(DS4) saw this bird and started chasing it.

campingandDisney2009350.jpg

campingandDisney2009349.jpg

Also at this time, Lego(DS6) started complaining about his shoe. I looked at his foot, and his shoe had ripped in the front and his toes were hanging out. Now we needed to buy him a pair of shoes. Thank goodness we came across one of those stands that sells Mickey Crocs. We got him some blue Mickey Crocs and were back on our way to Flametree.

You are right, her name is Mia too! You are going to have so much fun with her. If you don't have the princess singalong dvd's, then you need to get some now. My DD loved meeting the Princess's, and she is always telling me we need to go back and give them some hugs. She also loved all the rides, and there are so many that they can do even at 2!! You should go ahead and celebrate her bday while you are there. We had a CM that saw that it was DD's birthday, and he gave us each a Mickey Ice cream bar for free. It is so fun because everyone is constantly telling them "Happy Birthday"

Our kids could be the best of friends. I saw that your DS is 9. My oldest is now 8. He likes lego's too, especially the star wars legos. Make sure to make a trip to the Lego store early in your vacation so your son can enjoy himself at the parks without worrying about getting to that Lego store.;)

When is your trip? You will have to take lots of pics and do a TR!

We made it to Flametree at about 11:10. Thank goodness, because there was only one person in line. There also were plenty of parking places for strollers, and there were lots of tables! While we ordered, the one person in line's food came up. I don't know what they got, but it looked good so I took a picture real fast!:)

campingandDisney2009351.jpg

Goofy(DS7) and Lego(DS6) wanted the kids hot dogs with carrots and grapes. Donald(DS4) wanted the drumsticks with grapes and carrots, and DH and I both got the ribs. Princess shared with Donald(DS4) since his came with two drumsticks. Here are the pictures.

After we finished eating, we heard this band. It was right next to the Flametree, so we walked over to watch and dance.

campingandDisney2009356.jpg

campingandDisney2009357.jpg

Then the band handed out some rainstick type things for the kids to play while the band played. My kids loved this.

campingandDisney2009361.jpg

After a little song and dance, DH took the kids back to the boneyard while I rode EE. I took Goofy(DS7) with me. He loved this ride, and this was about to be my first time riding EE. Let me just say that this is now my favorite ride out of all the rides in WDW. Well, this one and Rock n Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios. :woohoo: It was awesome! If you have never done this ride, then I strongly encourage you to do this one.
Up next, Camp Minnie and Mickey.

When is your trip? You will have to take lots of pics and do a TR!

I'm definitely going to get her a princess singalong dvd. That would be a great early birthday gift for the trip. She really doesn't know who the princesses are right now even though she got the Snow White dvd for Christmas.

Yes, our son's would be great friends I'm sure. My DS loves Star Wars too and tries to get as many Star Wars Lego sets that he can. Santa brought him a couple for Christmas. ;) We're making a trip to DTD on our 2nd day to get it out of the way.

Our trip is going to be March 20-27. We celebrating our 11th anniversary while were there. I'll try to write a TR. This will be our 4th trip and I've never done one before but I think it would be fun.

Looking forward to reading more!

When we went last year we went on EE twice in a row. I think I got a little bit motion sick cause of going backwards in the dark. I like the ride...but I think I'll only do it once when we go and then call it. Cause I hate getting sick. I don't even ride Star Tours for that reason...sucks to be me haha! :confused3

Let me just note that this kind of, sort of, REALLY stressed me out!! This playground is really big

Yeah, I don't like this playground either. When DD11 was 5, she got knocked head first into one of the metal railings on the steps to the slide. She ended up in the first aid station with a huge hemotoma. I'm glad they are too old for it now. :sad2:

I don't know what they got, but it looked good so I took a picture real fast!:)

:rotfl2: Those salads look really good!

We had several Star Wars lego sets for Christmas this year as well. The big one that Lego(DS6) wanted was The Battle of Endor. Let me just tell ya, that one was HARD to find. It was out of stock everywhere. I ended up finding it at a brand new target a week before Christmas.

Congrats on your 11 year anniversary!!!

I have found that I get motion sickness in Star Tours as well. I discovered that on this trip. That has never happened to me before. I even got a little motion sick on Soaring. I couldn't believe it! I didn't feel queasy at all though from EE. That is crazy. :confused3

Oh my goodness! That is scary. Did you get a free Mickey Ice Cream bar or anything?Maybe some FP's?

I'm scared of soring for that reason. I might try it when we go to DL. But I'm really scared. I hate being motion sick. I think it was a combo of the dark and going backwards that did me in for EE. I don't know though. My brain works in funny ways.
