Day 3 of our Anniversary Trip.

Cast:
Myself, (Kate), 48 years young, mother of 4 kids (ages 10 to 20) with a full-time outside job as well. The Disney nut/planner and recent DIS board addict! Also the one who has been trying to convince DH to move to Florida for the last 25 years. LOL
DH (Harry) 49, father to the 4 mentioned Dear children. Likes Disney, but leaves the planning to moi!

I wake early, as usual, and have to drag DH out of bed. (He works 3rd shift, so is used to sleeping all day, up all night, but he's doing ok this week)

We wish each other happy anniversary - this is THE DAY, we finally made it all these years. We wear matching outfits, like little kids. Black shorts and the anniversary shirts I ordered online from disneydirect.com. Bride/Groom Mickey and Minnie with the words “Celebrating 25 Years of Magic - April 26, 1980 to April 26, 2005“ just for fun, and to help make our own magic.

After quickly inhaling our breakfast, we head to the bus stop, today is MK, and lots of memories from that same park 25 years ago. DH has packed our small soft-sided cooler with tons of ice, and several of the small bottles of water. He's going to put the cooler in a locker once we get to MK.

At the bus stop we're wished congratulations from some other people waiting, who've read our shirts. This becomes a common occurrence during the day, and it is a very nice touch. We receive comments from others, and CM's and it all makes the day more enjoyable.

We arrive at MK in time for the opening ceremonies, then get a locker, deposit the cooler and our sweatshirts (since it is finally warming up by 9:00) and head straight for Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is my kind of roller coaster! Since apparently most people are busy in Fantasyland or Tomorrow land, we have the place to ourselves, walk right on the ride and can choose any seats we want. This is great! We could do the same with Splash Mountain but its not quite warm enough for me to think about getting wet. On to Pirates, over to HM, Peter Pan all walk-ons. We've never done Philharmagic before, so head that way, but, again, 'technical problems' and the attraction is temporarily not operating. Seems to be a lot of that this week!

We spend time on different attractions and just walking around here in this happy place, commenting on the changes over the last 25 years. We ride the Wedway People Mover (OOps, I mean, TTA!) have our picture taken with Mickey at Toontown, and after a number of other activities, it is after noon and we're a bit hungry. Our big anniversary dinner is late tonight, so we need something small to tide us over. Sharing a turkey leg and soft pretzel, we hop on the raft to Tom Sawyer Island, then walk around there for a while and find a shady spot to have our lunch.

Head back to the resort about 2:00 as it's getting crowded, we need a rest and this is the first time we've considered swimming. Our room isn't too far from the main pool, and DH gets in the water and tries the water slide. I'm amazed at all the people swimming, too cold for me! It is only about 75 degrees, after all. I'm a hot weather girl, has to be near 90 for me to get in. I do try the hot tub, however. This is nice and relaxing, and not very crowded. There are ominous clouds in the sky, and it doesn't look so great. Walking back to our room it begins to drizzle. Wonder if they still do the fireworks when its raining?

Our dinner PS for Cali Grill is at 9, but first we have tickets for the 6:00 show of Cirque de Soleil. This was a big splurge, and we debated whether it would be worth it.

After getting ready, (I'm in a sundress, DH in nice shirt and pants) we get a bus for DTD. It is still raining lightly, but we don't get too wet, and arrive at the theater soon. Our seats are in section 206, not down front, kind of the upper section, but I've been told there isn't a bad seat, and this proves true. Once the show gets underway, I'm spellbound, as is DH. I literally sit there with my jaw dropped open the entire time. It is simply amazing, astounding, fascinating, (I can go on, if I check my thesaurus...LOL) Needless to say, we both love it, and next time we bring the kids, somehow I have to make room in the budget for this!

We've been told it would be best to take a taxi from here, but we're very happy with the Disney transportation, and have had no problems at all, and usually the buses arrive fairly quickly. It is raining still, but we don't wait long and the bus for Contemporary Resort soon has us on our way.
We are a bit early, but soon are seated at a table, not right next to the window, but close enough, we have a perfect view of the castle. Our server, Becky, is very attentive, wishes us happy anniversary, and chats a bit with us, but balances that with allowing us our privacy. The food is wonderful (Mahi, mahi and chicken), but we don't do fine dining very often, and in fact DH, when we first arrive, feels a bit like a fish out of water. (Boy, am I glad I didn't book Victoria and Albert's - he might have fainted!) While we enjoy our dinner, the rain gets worse, in fact, it's a thunder storm, complete with a pretty wild lightning show! It is now nearly 10:00, and we hear an announcement that due to the weather conditions, there will be no fireworks display tonight. We're disappointed, but whatcha gonna do? I planned as best I could, but nature has other ideas sometimes.

Becky brings us our dessert (on the house!) with Happy Anniversary Harry and Kate written on a slice of chocolate. It is still a magical day.

Leaving the CR, we go to the bus stop, to catch a ride to DTD then back to our resort. Had it been earlier, we could have done the monorail to MK then to CSR, but alas, MK has been closed for a while now, and no more buses running. We wait in the cold rain, and are just about to call a taxi, when our bus arrives. Get to DTD, and again sit and wait for another bus to CSR. DH, myself and one other woman are the only riders, so we have a conversation with the bus driver (sorry, I forget his name, it was late and I was tired) who tells us a number of interesting facts about how many buses are in the fleet, etc. (DH never lacks for things to ask about!)

When we finally make it back to our room, we open the door, and are surprised to find, by our table and chairs, balloons and a happy anniversary card signed from Mickey and Minnie!! Its been a great day. DH says we may have had a thunderstorm, but we can make our own fireworks!
