thanks for all recommendations in my earlier post.

have any of yall ever dined at chef mickeys, i found 1 reservation for 9:15 pm that day, I'm thinking that's a too late for dinner but that's the only thing I could find. I even tried breakfast. But it's dining w/ Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld so I guess people take what they can get. I'm sure he'll love this but then he'll miss the fireworks at MK. How good is chef mickeys as a dining experience? Is it worth waiting till 9 and is it worth missing the nightime spectacular? And we will be at MK that day so approx how long will it take to get from MK to Contemp Resort via Disneyworld transportation?

So many questions! Sorry but I need all the help I can get with this trip. This is only my second time and the first time I did counter meals my whole trip! We were trying to keep it cheap and simple since we wanted to concentrate more on the attractions.

When is your trip? They just opened up a TON of Chef Mickey reservations for the fall so you might want to check again. And getting to Chef Mickey's from the MK is easy..you can walk over, take the monorail, or take a boat. Walking takes about 10 minutes :goodvibes

Chef Mickey's is cool. Not sure how a 14 yr old will enjoy it, but it is pretty good food for a buffet and you get to eat in the CR resort. It is close to MK, so it is easy to get to.

I see that you may miss the fireworks that day, have you considered having a big birthday lunch and do CS for dinner, that way he can see the fireworks on his bday? Might be something to look into.

CM is not worth it for Dinner (cost and poor Food quality,Plus Some teens are not into Character meals anymore like they were when they were little).
DS is 14 and likes the following:
He like's Ohana (at Poly) San Angel Inn (Epcot)
and Sci-Fi (at DHS), Yak and Yeti (at AK) These are perfect for Teens.

We love the resorts for dinner (or any meal.) My DH (who acts and eats like a teenager:lmao:) and I love Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge and it is such a cool resort.

OP my son is 14 and thinks Chef Mickeys is quite lame if your were to ask him. Which leads me to the question, "Why not let your son pick out the restaurant he wants?"

DS is 10 and doesn't care for the character meals. He wants to be left alone. We will be there the week of both of their birthdays and planning on doing CRT for DD's birthday and probably Via Napoli for his birthday.

If I left it up to him we would do Cosmic Ray's so I will take him there for lunch. :goodvibes

Yeah, I'm in agreement with the majority, here. At 14, I wouldn't want to be in Chef Mickey's at all. I liked to feel older than I was, and I would have much rather have gone to a nicer sit-down joint or a dinner show.

As a 14 year-old, I probably would have liked 'Ohana or Hoop-De-Doo a lot more than a character meal. Something heavily themed and fun, still, but without all of the costumes walking around.

I'd go with HDDR or 'Ohana for dinner. He might enjoy WCC also.

Our oldest is a little younger than OP's son, but doesn't like Chef Mickey's either. He loves Garden Grill at EPCOT - Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. Better food, atmosphere is less hectic, family style instead of buffet.

Our son is 14 going on 15 in October, but he has gone to Chef Mickey's for his birthday before. He LOVED it. If you were to ask him which character meal he would pick for his birthday dinner, he would choose Chef Mickey's. He still loves meeting with all the characters and has not "grown up" for character meals at all. Actually, one of his favorite dining experiences is the character meal at 'Ohana for breakfast.

Every time we have gone for dinner the food has been good. We especially like the parmesan mashed potatoes. :)

As far as other meals he enjoys he LOVES Biergarten and Marrakesh. He also really enjoyed Coral Reef. But if your son still enjoys meeting with the characters, definitely go to Chef Mickey's.

thanks for all the replys! I love this forum!! Real answers from real people!!

My son loves Mickey! I know he would def love it. He's 14 but he's one of those people that will always be at kid at heart. He's very into art, comics, cartoons so he loves the whole idea characters. Our dates are Nov 17th to 24th (day before Thanksgiving), I think I found a solution. MK has Magic Hours the 21st, His bday is the 22nd so I'm thinking we'll hop on over to MK for the fireworks on the 21st and go ahead w/ Chef Mickey's on his bday.

So how do the reservations work, you just show up at your designated time, correct? or do you have to be there like you know 15 min early or something. Also the characters do they walk around to your table, I mean do you have plenty of access to pictures w/ them?

Thanks

Thanks

Disney does recommend that you arrive 15 min. before the time of your reservation. Each character will come around to each table, giving plenty of access for pictures. Have a great time! I'm sure your son will have a fantastic birthday! :goodvibes
