Wow........has Disney gone so far south that even it's parades are overpowered by High School Musical Madness??????:sad2:

I just watched this parade on YouTube anticipating our trip in 3 weeks and I'm utterly appalled. This Parade has no creativity.......no "magic". I'm at a loss for words......

I'm normally a fan of all things disney, and it's rare for DLR to have a show or entertainer i don't enjoy....but now they've hit an all time low.

DH and I are sad we won't have our daily "Parade breaks" this trip.....we'll watch the parade once in person so we can say we saw it......but for the other 4 days forget it.

JMHO...........:wizard:

I have seen the CSP 5 times, I was skeptical about it too. It's not great, but not horrible either. My DGD1 loves it lol. It's catchy and ummm hip lolol
I think it was originally supposed to be a pre-parade kind of thing for POD but not sure what happened. :confused3 budget cuts, problems with crowd control?
Anyway....It's a fun little party and it's always crowded. It only makes a couple stops for about 15 minutes each. Not the usual parade route. If you are in the very front they toss out drumheads :) and get some
people to dance in the street. I think you'll enjoy it the first time :)

Pomlover2586, I have seen Celebrate! A Street Party several times with many different sets of people. It really is very different in person than on video/internet. I know you will be skeptical about that thought, but it is true. The crowd gets an energy throughout that just doesn't carry over the computer screen. The idea is that it is a big street party - and it is. You can really get into it if you allow yourself to. You can join in the conga line, dance with the characters, join in the street party itself if you want. If truly is a street party.

I think that if you give it a chance in person, you will find (as other DIS members have posted they experienced) that it is enjoyable in person.

It was not meant as a pre-parade. The ROD ended with the Year of a Million Dreams promotion ending. Celebrate! A Street Party goes with the theme Disneyland has this year which is Celebrate!

Important thing to remember so expectations are met: It is not a parade. It is a street party - as its name says.

I really liked it. As the PP said, its a lot different in person than on the internet. It was a lot of fun when we were there.
Its also not "high school musical madness"
There are no high school musical songs at all. I hate high school musical with a passion and i loved the parade.

Its a lot of fun. Do i hope they change it for next year, yes. But i would rather they change the parades every year (except for spectro in MK) b/c we go at least yearly.

This is not hiting an all time low...JMHO

I saw it in person. You actually can't help but see it because it runs two times a day and clogs everything up. Ropes come out and people camp out ahead of time also making it difficult to move around before the parade. I didn't care for it all. :confused3 The Pixar Play parade at DCA was WAY better. Loved that one! :thumbsup2

Yeah I figured the "In Person" experience verses the "Youtube experience" would be a lot different, which is why we're gonna check it out.

I just miss the Separate Disney Movie themed Floats......it's something I've come to expect LOL.

And I call It "High School Musical Madness" because of the character costumes [frilly sparkly dresses, cuffed shirts with ties etc] It just has a high school musical air to it......but as a PP poster said it does not include their music which is a good thing.....

I took that to mean that it's just like the HSM nonsense they have over in DCA. And IMO it is. Pretty much exactly the same, only....and please note that I cringe whenever I hear the announcement that the HSM thing is coming...worse than the HSM float.

I've seen, unwillingly, Celebrate several times. 3 times the last trip, on ONE day, because of horrid choices of when to leave and enter Disneyland. Got stuck exiting DL at the first parade (right around 4 when it hit it's last stop on Main Street), then caught the *beginning* of the second one when we came back to the parks...walked as briskly as possible, got a Buzz FP, forgot about it and went to cross over to Frontierland and caught the castle stop as well. (actually the frontierland decision was made after I realized that if I went to Small World like I'd planned, we'd hit it a THIRD time in one hour).

I am not a fan. At all. The energy seems to be coming from children (my own included, who does not know how much I dislike it), not from adults. Most adults I see have the same expression I do, one of "omg why does Disney need cheesy MCs yelling at us?" but I might be projecting.

What are "drumheads"?

yeah same...
last august my friend and i were in Hollywood Studios and it was like 100 degrees so we found a shady spot to sit before we had our dinner reservation....as we sat down we heard teh announcement for HSM and we looked at each other and just went oh crap...why now????? We couldnt find a single shady spot away from that thing...we ended up going over to 50s prime time 30 mins early adn i think everyone else had the same idea...lol

We were in DCA at the end of june this year....we were only there for about 4 hours....OMG...i have no idea how many times we heard HSM....i thought i was going to die
