The Maverick will not be open for park-goers when Cedar Point opens on May 12, park officials announce.

The Maverick reaches 70 mph, and then drops 105 feet to a 95-degree angle. The Maverick will then stay close to the ground.

It might be up and going in June.

That's too bad...The good weather in December and early January had them ahead of schedule in getting the track laid. It sounds like one of the areas of the track was a little to rough in testing and needed redone. It's not uncommon though to have some difficulties on new coasters. Seemed like Top Fuel Dragster had lots of problems its first year and still does go down a lot.

Dragster has been quite a bit more reliable in the past season or two. Still not perfect, but better. Water-cooling the catapault channel had a big impact in reliability. The smaller catapaults (at Knotts and Hersheypark) are still much more reliable than the large ones (CP and SFGAdv).
