cedar point

The secret to the Mean Streak is not to sit back in the seat. I've found that if I lean up a bit my body tolerates the jerks better. Even though it's rough, the Mean Streak is awesome...it's such a long ride and very little line.

Lean back?? How could you? LOL! I'm always jerked all the way around, theres no way to sit in opne spot. It is just awful, but thats me. I have back/neck/shoulder problems and it is awful on it. I can do just about any other ride, but that.
I also always feel like you will fly off the track at any moment. But it has been a good 7 years since I rode it.

there is less movement in the front seats. I think they mean leaning forward, back not fully rested in the seat.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Thanks for the great info. We have booked cottages w/ decks right on the lake. they had a great ticket deal 3day both parks for $89.
We will definitely take advantage of early entry. To the person who was discussing the shuttle-can anybody on property just call for the shuttle? Does it make a regualr loop through each resort area like Disney buses?
Another quick question-where can we grocery shop? We are driving from MA so obviously want to wait til we are in the area. We are staying the night before check in at a Quality Inn Rainwater. Is there anything nearby?
We go the end of June and am now letting myself get excited.

There is a Kroger's nearby and a Meijer on 250. I want to say they built a Walmart supercenter too, think that is on 250 also.

Just curious:

Which rides do you consider "rough" coasters and which ones are "smoothe"? We went last year to dis / u.s. / Busch gardens (i had a headache) and realized how rough gwazi, and the hulk were.... everyother coaster was smoothe to me....

I would love to talk dh to going to cp for a day this year...But it will take a lot of begging;)

I agree, the steel coasters are rather smooth and the wooden ones are rather rough. I think the mine ride (one of the older and smallest) is the worst, but to me the Blue Streak is a close second. Iron Dragon is the exception IMHO. It's the steel hanging under the track one and I think it bounces your head around a lot. Magnum and Millenium are both awsome. Only one I can't comment on is Top Thrill Dragster. Too chicken for that one! I can do fast, I can do high......but as I get older that shoot out of the gate like a cannon makes me ill.

For the OP. There is a grocery store right in a plaza behind Great Wolf Lodge on 250. It's just a mile or so up the road off the 2 exit for 250...and going toward CP. I "think" it's the Meijer store, but someone local may correct me if it's the Kroger. But it's one of them. We've run over there when we've forgotten to pack something.

There is also a mini-golf right up the road on 250 that my kids love to spend a couple hours at.

regards

I think the Krogers is on Perkins Ave, I would check google to be sure. It is technically closer than the other two places but it's not on that main strip. Rt 250 has anything you can think of.

I would suggest before you go to check their ads online to see who has what you need on sale. Keep in mind that Krogers (not sure if you have one or not) has a shopper card. You need the card to get the sale prices. Our ads come out on Wednesday, not sure on that particular store. Our Meijer ad comes out on Sunday, don't need a shopper card. The Walmart ones are sporadic. I am not sure if there is a Sam's next to that Walmart, might help with your shopping also.

I agree that the Mean Streak is the absolute roughest! I also think the Corkscrew whips you side to side terribly at the end, even though it's a steel coaster. I'm really surprised they even still have this ride, it's over so quick! Also, Jr. Gemini has a terrible stop at the end that pitches you forward.

Iron Dragon is probably the smoothest.

When we go to Cedar Point we always camp, it is a great campground. We try to get a site near the pool as if you watch Mean Streak when it comes around the corner you can see the whole corner sway after the trains go around, kind of scary to watch, but we still went and rode it.
You will like the Point, it is not trying to be another Disney we like to go on our off Disney years.

The shuttle does come around about every 20 mins. There are phones located by the pool and the campstore. When you are ready to go just pick up the phone and they will answer. you just tell them where you are and where you are going. There are also phones at each park entrance, waterpark and marina. We usually just walk from the campground. It is just across a large parking lot to the Waterpark and CP entrance. With a double stroller it was just easier for us to walk.

Have fun. I am looking forward to Memorial weekend for our first trip there this year. The photo in my sig is actually taken at the campground there.

I can't speak for up there but our Kroger ads start on MOn here in central oh.

The grocery stores are very hard too find but the Krogers is not too far and as long as you get some good directions you will be ok but you will want to get there card ahead of time. Also, the cottages are great and you will love the evenings on the lake (except the bugs).

dh weighs 240. He is about 6ft 1in tall--he has "bird legs", but a larger stommach...Wears a size 42 pants...I have read the c.p. website, but i asked him to try to loose about 20 lbs;)...He can fit on all rides at disney, universal, and busch gardens. does anyone have any experience with weight at c.p? Do you think he will fit??

DH fits on everything but the mantis. he's 6'5 and 260. Size 38 or 40 pants. he's way too tall for the mantis its impossible for him to stand like that. we haven't been there since the new coaster went in a few years ago so that's the only one I can't say for sure.

I think at the rides that might be size restricted they have a demo car with restraints to se if you will fit before waiting in line. I also think they have someone there to assist you in trying. Just a hint if you are carrying a sweatshirt and not wearing it do not have it tied around your waist, a friend did that and could not get the restaint down on Mil. Force and had to get off.

Somebody mentioned a breakfast buffet close to Cedar Point. Does anyone know how much it costs? We will have (2) 14yr olds and (2) 12 yr olds plus 4 adults if that helps

We are "Pooh Sized" folks who go to CP frequently. As far as the rides go, CP is more restrictive on their rides for people of size. Most of the bigger coasters have test seats at the ride enterance to try it first. My DH is 6'3 and about 275 and cannot ride Millenium Force, Wicked Twister & Raptor (due to height) and it was a snug fit for the Dragster and the employee at the enterence told him he could enter the line but may be asked not to ride once he got in, so he skipped it. I am a 22 and cannot fit in the Blue Streak , Dragster, MF and Raptor was a tight fight due to chest size. We did however, fit into the Maverick and as long as I can ride the Magnum, I have no worries :)

DH is 6'5 and fits completely fine in Millennium Force and Raptor. He said Raptor's super easy because your feet dangle. I have no idea what Wicked Twister is though because we haven't been there in years (even though we are in Sandusky every weekend in the summer!).

Read in our local paper that Cedar Point is having a special on one day tickets good from May 15 to May 30. $29.99 tickets have to be purchased by April 30th. You can find this on their website.
