Cedar Point, Ohio ?

Aargh! You guys are KILLING me! :rotfl: I cannot make up my mind! LOL! Breakers Express is out. So it is between the Hotel Breakers or the Kalahari (rooms looks so nice and it's less expensive than the Breakers - $139 for a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed). Though it's tough to compare prices with the Breakers because there are no packages listed on the CP website. I guess it's still too early for them to put the 2006 pricing up??

We'll be going end of May so no chance of outdoor waterpark or pools. Not even sure if we'd even use the indoor waterpark at Kalahari unless it was pouring out and we couldn't go to CP.

How are the attractions that are not coasters, and not amusement park type rides?

Water rides? Dark rides? Shows?

They're ok. About what you'd find at most amusement parks. If you mean water rides like flume-type rides, there's a log ride, a large raft-type ride and one of those round raft rapid rides. Those are in order of least wet to most wet. If you mean water slides, there's Soak City, a full waterpark. It's a separate admission, though. Dark rides? The only think I can think of is a lame one called Disaster Transport which used to be a lame outdoor toboggan-themed ride that they enclosed and added a theme too. There's a couple shows as well, I forget what they are since I haven't seen one in more than a few years.

Ugh. Stay far away from Disaster Transport. I got conned into going on this last year--you can't tell that the line lasts FOREVER because it's all inside and it was the lamest ride ever.

The funny thing is that my teens love that ride. I will agree that, if the lines are long, this is one ride that you can skip.

I dont know where you were at that it was dirty, there are many many people who sweep all day long, the only thing I have ever noticed on the grounds was the occasional seagull poop...and as far as being dingy ?? :confused3

omg...I was sitting on a bench near that twister/DNA looking thinger (yeah, not a huge coaster fan here) and was SHOWERED with seagull poop! OMG...it was DISGUSTING! 100times worse then "seagull poop island" at MK (aka - tom sawyer island)

Unfortunately, that's one negative effect of building a park surrounded by a lake. :crazy2: :crazy2:

oh - and I liked disaster transport!

but we rode it once with the lights ON...omg...that place is FILTHY! so dang dusty...and with the lights on, the ride was freaky...like we were going to spill over any minute

Still haven't made up my mind yet about my hotel (I guess I will wait until the CP 2006 packages are put onto their website), but being the planner that I am, I want to move onto restaurants :)

Any good restaurants we should not miss out on? Anything fun or out of the ordinary? Are the restaurants in the Great Wolf Lodge or the Kilharai worth going to for dinner?

Thanks!

I'm going to bump this thread back up since we are hoping to go to Cedar Point for the first time this summer.

We want to go to CP and Soak City. How many days should we plan on? I'm hoping that we can go for 3 days, but we might only be able to spare (and afford) 2. Looks like there are 2 day passes that we could hop back and forth between the 2 parks, but what about a 3 day pass?

We'd be interested in all the big rides since I have older kids (and me) and also the "family" type rides since we have a 6yo. He's past the kiddy rides, for the most part and will do anything he's tall enough for. Also, we like to repeat our favorites.

If we were to stay onsite and get the early entry can we do what a person can do at WDW and check in early in the morning, get room keys (non-activated if the rooms aren't ready) and hit the early entry park?

Does only CP have early entry or does Soak City also have it?

I'm sure I'll have other questions, but can start with those. :teeth:

One other question...is Soak City more something that a person would do as a midday break from Cedar Point or something to go to and spend the day (assuming that a person has a pass where they could hop back and forth between them)?

I've only been to Great Wolf Lodge, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with the restaurant there. There are a number of restaurants up and down the road where GWL is that I would try instead.

Soak City, assuming you're into water slides, is a full day park. It's pretty huge, and when busy, the lines can get pretty long as well. You could theoretically hop in and ride a couple slides and change and head back into CP, but IMO, it would be a PITA.

As to your other post, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there's early entry for Soak City.

We love water slides so I'll allow a whole day for soak city--getting there at opening one day and then if we want to hop over to Cedar Point later that day we can do so. I assume that Soak closes earlier than CP in summer.

We always get the 2 day ride and slide tickets. We buy them a Meijer for a small discount off regular price. It gives you 2 tickets to both CP and SC, unfortunately you have to use day 1 at both parks on the same day or they charge a surcharge. We usually go to CP in the morning and head to SC in the afternoon. Depending on when you go, it is chilly early in the day being surrounded by Lake Erie. I remember when I worked there we always had sweatshirts just in case and I don't remember many days when I didn't need it in the AM.

Tigger&Belle, there aren't any 3-day passes from what I can see. The 2-day pass is $65 and the season pass is only $99 (or somewhere around there - don't have my paperwork in front of me). So I would think that would be the best option for doing 3 days - you may even be able to sneak in a couple of hours at the park again before you depart.

We were planning on buying the 2-day ticket, but the hotel packages are include a one-day ticket and Starlight tickets. So now I'm confused again! LOL! Anyone know if you can upgrade these package tickets at the gate to 2-day tickets? I'd hate to just waste these included tickets, but we really want the 2-day.

Does the $99 ticket allow entry into Soak City, too?

No, the Season Pass for $99 is just for the parks, but it is also good at all Cedar Fair parks, so if you were planning on a few days at Cedar Point and were going to Knotts Berry Farm, you would get free admission. Its 155 for the combo pass.

I used to work at CP many moons ago. I actually like the fact that the park is by the lake. It was a great place to work at during my college breaks.

Here's a suggestion for one of the best family restaurants in Sandusky. Their breakfast is wonderful.
