We arrived around 6:00 pm, it wasn't very crowded, although Milennium was as usual over an hour wait:

When crowds are low they tend to close things:

I think food is priced at about what Disney is:

Although I think this isn't a bad deal:

DSC01578.jpg

there is another similar deal by Millenium with bratwurst for a dollar more.

If you're a passholder and don't mind lugging it around, this can be a good deal:

it was better deal when they had FREE refills!

I want to win one of these:

I am one of like ten people who like the museum. This year they have K'nex, apparently there was a competition with high school students:

I saw entries from Mont Clair, NJ, and Eden Prairie, MN, among others.

Here is another

It was a cool day so this was popular:

And to end this report, a few pics of merchandise:

I have always wonderred about Cedar Point so keep the tr coming. I like coasters but not huge giant ones. I have wondered what else is there. I would still rather be in Disney. :tink:

We ar going there on Friday with my husbands work. Looking forward to it. We have not been in years.

I miss Cedar Point. We are from Toledo (about 45 minutes away) and went on many trips to the Point! We moved to the Twin Cities area 5 years ago, but we did manage to go to CP 2 years ago when we went back to visit family. So much fun! My youngest two had only been there once when they were toddlers, so it was great seeing them experience what I grew up on!
We are actually going to Ohio next week and dd19 will be heading to CP with a friend ...I"m jealous! lol.

We have Valleyfair here which is owned by the same people who own CP, but it just isn't the same. A third of the size, but same cost. Its okay to kill a couple of hours (we went twice last week-season passes-and had the whole park done by 2 each day...including the waterpark.) but it in no way compares to CP (or Kings Island for that matter...another great park in Cincinnatti)!

While Disney is in a class by itself and is comparable to no other, CP is the King of amusement parks! (now if they would just include Soak City in the cost of admission like all the other parks do, that would be awesome!)

Thanks for the TR. we live about 2 hours east of CP. I haven't been there in probably 10 years. Boy did I enjoy those coasters! I'm sure I'll be back in a couple years once DD is a litte older. Better start preparing my stomach for the flips now. I hear the older you get the harder the coasters are on ya!

Cedar fair is NOT pooh size friendly, my DH is 6' 265 lbs, in my opinion that doesn't even count as pooh sized, but anyway he barely fit onto most of rides... We didn't find that fun :(

We haven't been to Cedar Point in many years, maybe 15-20.

I've wanted to go again, but would like to stay on site and the prices they are charging for the hotels is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not a roller coaster rider but always enjoyed other rides, especially the water rides and, I think it was called the Cedar Creek Mine Ride. That one probably isn't even there anymore.

Would love to go again and see how different it is, but I'm not willing to pay their prices.

Love Cedar Point! Have already gone twice and my newly 7 year old daredevil daughter loves all the roller coasters, so its alot of fun to have a riding partner;)

Just a tip for any vistors to parks. ( Meijer- local grocery chain) sells discount tixs. as do AAA offices. I believe there is also a savings on pepsi cans but your asking wrong girl for that info.

Another tip. On property there is a Famous Daves restaraunt just outside the parks west side enterance. If you take your parking stub in there they will subtact the amt of parking off of your bill.

They also have a great meal deal. Its a family feast that come in a small size(feeds 2-3) and large size(feeds 4-6 I think). You get to pick 3 meats, potatoes salad, baked beans, cole slaw, corn on the cob, and corn bread. . Any way its a good deal and a great way to sit down and cool off.

Oh man I love Cedar Point! I grew up in southeastern Michigan so it was a regular summer trip for us. Since moving to Tucson i've only been able to get back a hand full of times...maybe 3 in 5 years. Just got to visit last month though, and got to take my Tulsa-born boyfriend for his first time.

We had such a blast, and I finally talked myself into riding Top Thrill Dragster...man what a rush that thing is. CP has always been, and probably will always be, my favorite park for rides.

Love CP! We did Platinum Passes last year and practically lived there all summer.

that said, it is definitely best for thrill seekers. My DD and I had a blast. My DH and DS are NOT thrill-seekers though...but somehow they managed to spend endless hours there and were content. I think they just enjoyed hangin out.

My whole family says our passes were well worth it and we have incredible memories of our summer at CP. It was super duper special. (and cost us maybe $2000 for about a dozen trips too!)

How accurate was that 1 1/4 posted wait time for Millenium Force? I haven't been to Cedar Point in about 10 years and don't remember if those signs are accurate or not.

Disney's stand-by times are often slightly exaggerated. Six Flags Great Adventure's in New Jersey are almost always outrageously exaggerated. The other day I got in line for El Toro at the 60 minute wait sign. Got on the ride in about 20 minutes. Similar situation for the Nitro coaster. Of course, Six Flags' goal is to sell the extra cost Flash Pass, since the estimated wait time signs are sponsored by them and Armitron watches. With such wildly innacurate times, who'd ever buy an Armitron watch??

CP usually overestimates wait times too, but not by much. If it says 1 1/4 hours, we used to guess 1 hour. At Millennium, if the line was to the Pepsi machines (in the queue) the wait was an hour IF they had all three trains running.

I say USED TO GUESS because new this year is the sale of Fast Passes. It depends on the size of your group and the day of the week, but count on about $50 per person extra. It gives you unlimited front of the line access to lots of rides. We saw alot of people using it the day we were there, and it wasn't even a busy day. They say there is a limited number for sale, but I somehow doubt that. It's hard to say what the impact will be on lines.

They are also selling an upgraded parking pass, it allows you to park closer in. Parking is $12 normally (for cars), close-in parking is $20. I don't think it's worth it. I'll try to figure out how to show you on a map where its at compared to regular parking.

I forgot about the parking validation discount! But we get the platinum pass which includes parking so it doesn't apply. I agree FD is the best place to eat, and when you say "just outside the park", I want to stress that you are absolutely correct. You exit the park near the Dodgems, and literally walk one minute and you're there. You don't have to drive there. We've also ordered kids meals to go (for our kids and us) and it was enough food for us. (yes, I know it says 12 and under, sorry).

I think the reason it has the best food is because of the marina people. Those people live there all season, I think they try to cater to them. They also have a marina store with slushy's and ice cream and other snacks that are way less expensive than in the park.

We are waiting until Sept when it cools off a little to go this year.
OP, did you see the dinosaurs? My 7 year old son is super excited to go see them.

Early Sept can be nicer weatherwise, but because they're only open weekends Saturdays tend to be pretty crowded. Especially later in Sept and all of Oct, Halloweekends are mobbed. You know you're in trouble when there's a wait at the toll booth!

Back to September. Friday nights are usually not crowded, but not everything is open. Most of the kiddie rides are closed. Also there is some Christian Music Festival Sept 15th. Sundays aren't bad because none of the Halloweekend things are happening. With a 7 year old, I'd go with Sunday.

No, we didn't see Dinosaurs. They're an additional admission, and when they were at Kings Island (another Cedar Fair park) last year I read the reviews and while almost all were good it didn't seem like it was for me. I think a 7 year old would enjoy it alot!

I did the Dinos at Kings Island last summer. It was fun. Almost worth the $5 pp in my opinion. Definitely worth it in lieu of an ice cream cone (if u think of money that way).

Amazing for dino crazy kids. We enjoyed it but with my kids being on the older end, some of the awe was missing.

The dinos felt a little "commonplace" after a bit and that was sad as it really was magnificent seeing the dinos in a "natural" setting.

We went last Sept. on a Sunday and the crowds were low so thats what we are hoping for again this Sept!

My 7 yr old loves dines so hopefully he will enjoy it. Thnaks for the reviews.

We go every year during the last week that they are open for 7 days. We stay Tuesday through Thursday in the old section of The Breakers hotel and it is quite reasonable.

Last year we went to Kings Island and we got the Fast Lane passes. It was great! We'll do that at Cedar Point this year now that they have it.
