Cedar Point experts needed!

DH and I are considering a trip to Cedar Point next summer. Neither of us has ever been before. I have a kind of delicate question:
I am a Pooh sized lady (size 22, with most of my weight below the waist), and I am concerned about the "persons of exceptional size" restrictions on most of the thrill rides.

I would be embarassed and pretty upset if I stood in line for a roller coaster or other thrill ride and was turned away at the loading platform for being too large to ride.

Does anyone know what exactly is the policy- are there test seats for the different ride vehicles? I am just afraid of going and ending up embarassed (and knowing me, cryer that I am, in tears) by being turned away at the loading platform.

Haven't been there myself for just that reason, but I've heard and read that Cedar Point is among the worst parks for larger guests. I even think there was a DISer talking about it a year or so ago -- she had mentioned her size being a 16 and they gave her a hard time! I'll see if I can search for that thread.

They are VERY strict on their policy with larger guests. However, there are still many coasters that can/will accomodate larger sizes.

SOme of the bigger coasters have a seat outside the line that you can try out to seeif it fits. My mom was about a size 20 the last time we went and the only ride she had a problem with was those little cars (like the WDW Speedway)..It was tight getting the seat belt on but she got it at the last minute. She did Gemini, Mantis, Blue Streak, Magnum, Raptor, all just fine, However we didn't try Millenium force (line too long to even bother) and Top Thrill dragster (won't be dragging us on that at all any time soon..lol)!

I went to Cedar Point this summer and had the same fears you had. In fact I worked out with the goal to fit on the roller coasters there for months before we went.
All I know is when I fit on the test seat, and it was a just barely fit, my husband had to help me, I was glad I worked as hard as I did to lose some size. I was a large 16 at the time. I felt so bad to see so many people try to fit, and not be able to. CP is not WDW by any means.
I estimate that I would not have been able to fit on most of the rides when I was a size 20/22. I barely fit on most of them as a size 16. My husband even had a hard time and he was a size 36. I really do not understand why they can't make things a little more accommodating, after all the average woman is a size 14!
I saw many many people try the test seat and not fit, and also walking the walk of shame. You will be very limited to what you can ride if you are bigger than a size 16.

There are seats outside most of the rides with size restrictions for people to try out, so they don't waste time standing in line.

I think it might be difficult for someone who wears a size 20 to ride most of the coasters. But you're talking NEXT summer! You could lose a little weight by then and ride anything you want!!!

Also, Cedar Point isn't like WDW. It is an amusement park, not a theme park. It is a great amusement park, lots of fun and fairly clean...but no themes and very little in the way of shows or good food, etc. And it is very crowded on weekends. It's only open in the summer and most the folks there are local. If you can, come mid-week.

Guests of Exceptional Size
All passenger restraint systems, including lap bars, shoulder harnesses and seatbelts, must be positioned, fastened and tightened to allow guests to ride.

Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, males who exceed 6'2", and those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40" waistline or 52" chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions, so it is impossible to determine exact size and weight.

Our larger guests may experience difficulty on Blue Streak, Chaos, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport, Mantis, maXair, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Mine Ride, Power Tower, Raptor, Skyhawk,Wave Swinger, Wicked Twister and Top Thrill Dragster.

Maximum recommended weight limits are posted on Camp Snoopy rides, Chaos, Monster, Scrambler, Super Himalaya, Troika, Wave Swinger, RipCord and most Soak City attractions.

You may enter the ride via the exit to ensure the restraints function properly prior to waiting in line. We have test seats at maXair, Millennium Force, Raptor, Skyhawk, Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister.

I have been going to Cedar Point since I was litte. For several years DH and I had season passes. We haven't been in 2 years because of these restrictions. DH is almost 6'5" so he might not be able to ride some of the things that we have been riding for years.

I'll also add that women who are of average size (not skinny, not fat) but have healthy bosoms might feel their chests are a wee bit squished.

Well, thanks for all the replies, everyone!

Overall, I feel a bit depressed about the size restrictions- DH and I talked, and I will really work on losing weight and shaping up. When we get closer to the summer, we will re-assess whether we want to try CP or not. DH will have no problem with any of the rides, but if I can't do many of them, we will probably give it a pass.
