Hi,
Does anyone have any idea how much it costs to have a cd burned of digital pictures at Shutters? I am planning on taking TONS of pictures and wondered if I should go ahead and buy another memory card. The one I've got is 512MB, so I can take about 400 at the finest quality setting. I also wondered if this was something they could do quickly or if I'd have to leave my card there for a while.

Thanks!

Sailing in 12 days!!! Can't wait!!! :jumping1:

I think it is $14.95 for them to burn you a cd.

I did not use the service, so can't comment on how long it took.

DH did it twice. The first time the guy did it right there. The second time, he dropped it off in the earlyafternoon and had it a few hours later. I think it depends on how busy they are.

Beware, you might want to bring something to put the cd in. DH didn't have any problems, but when our tablemates went to do this, they didn't have anything to put it in and he didn't want to risk something happening to it with all those pictures.

Our digital camera uses XD memory cards, and those took 24 hours to put onto a CD. If you use one of the other types of memory cards (SD for example), we were told those can be done on the same day. I think DrCavin is correct, I seem to remember $14.95 for the CD, and it comes with a card of thumbnail prints, too. In the end, we spent over $500 at Shutters (we had 2 of the 3D image crystals made, MANY 8X10s, MANY 6x8s, frames, bought a second XD memory card, CD burning, etc) and DH and I agree, it was WORTH it ::yes::

melkel: My DH said that it really depends on the size of the picture, the resolution, etc., but a good estimate could be 400-500 pictures on a CD.

KeAlani'sMommy: Here's a link to my web site, with a picture of our 3D crystals that we had made aboard the Magic: http://terry527.home.comcast.net/html/DCL souvenirs 2004.htm The crystals are about halfway down the page. The images inside the crystals look flat but they are indeed 3D. We love them, they're two of our favorite souvenirs. :) In case you are wondering, they were $99 each, including the revolving-mirrored-light-up base that they're sitting on. I forget the price of just the crystal alone. Also, these are the medium sized crystals.

A CD will hold 700 mb of data. If you have a 512 mb memory card and it is full, then you could get all of it on a cd, plus another 188 mb from another card (approximately).

Here is a warning!!!!

If you purchase a new memory card, TRY IT BEFORE TAKING LOTS OF PHOTOS!!!! Not just making sure it stores the photo, but it can also be dowloaded!!!

Have been reading on other boards of people purchasing bad memory cards, usually from cheapest online merchants. Can't imagine taking 300 photos and then they be corrupted.

At first I thought "Wowm $500 at shutters!", but then I saw your 3-D crystals and I can see why.

They look so cool.

Can't wait to run up our bill!

Thanks.

Jim

I had 110 pictures downloaded to a CD and when I got it home they were no where to be found on the disc. BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Make sure the pictures were actually burned onto the disk. It was abxolutely horrible to lose the first part of our trip.
