No, I am not really that hard up I am looking to profit on an exchange rate...:rotfl:

I recently heard that the images work better on newer and cleaner pennies. So I thought about going to the bank to get some brand, spankin' new ones this week. Obviously if someone knows that the machines don't accept Cdn pennies I can save myself a trip.

Thanks in advance!:)

Cool idea. I'd like to know too. We've been saving US quarters since last summer just for the penny machines!

When we were there in January the machine in front of Jungle Cruise was free! Only cost the penny! You'll have to check it out to see if that's still true!
Sorry - don't know about the canadian penny. We've never tried it ourselves. I had read that there is a difference in the older american penny vs. the newer ones. You may have to experiment a bit to find out.

We tried both American and Canadian. The American are softer give a much better final product than Canadian coins. I tried cleaning some american but they just didn't clean well. Just ask any cashier for pennies and they will provide. Watch for the Quater presses as well. Very nice finish. So shiny.

Canadian pennies are slightly thinner and made out of a slightly harder alloy and just dont work as good ( I cleaned and polished a role of American ones we collected at home )

I tried the Canadian penny too at first and they didn't turn out well at all. They didn't press as nicely (as well) as the US ones. For the exact reasons a PP mentioned. We just asked the cashiers nearby for some pennies and they were happy to oblige and even made an effort to try and give us her shiniest pennies in her cash regsiter! Even though the penny is not super shiney, they still work out nicely.

Ditto! We found that some of the impression was missing as well, the Canadian pennies flatten shorter? than the US pennies....go figure! Don't forget, the machines will NOT take Canadian quarters, so just get all US coin.

Thanks guys!!!:goodvibes

As usual, a wealth of information here on the Dis!;)
