I expect that once this election hoopla calms down the rate will go back up. Rather than take a chance, I charged the whole vacation Can $ at Par package to my charge card. Yes, all I needed to do was put down $200 for a deposit, but with the exchange rate being what it is, I couldn't resist. They assured me if I change my plans up to 45 days prior I will get a full refund, with penalties closer like usual. It's like the US$ is on sale, and I just can't resist a sale.

Oh well, it was the right decision at the time. The Dollar went up to 1.42 at one point.

I live in the US now, and get a bi-monthly check from home in Canadian funds. You can imagine the difference this has made in my life.

Heard on CBC radio business report the other day that the current value of the CDN dollar is effectively at par against the US buck -- guess this takes into account the varying sales tax levels between Canada and the US.

Got my DD $100 US this morning and it cost $120.60 CND at our local currency exchange. When we initially decided to do the Disney thing again the exchange was approx. $1.50 CND for $1 US. Thank goodness it turned around!
