CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

Trying to plan a football trip to the UK post-Covid. That is on the list.
Tickets are hard to get, but since Liverpool extended the stadium you may get lucky. Stadium Tour is very good, I did the Tottenham one in October too, that’s an impressive stadium, mainly paid for by the NFL as they are setting up a UK NFL team and the NFL pitch is under the football (sorry’soccer’😂) pitch there and the pitch slides back.
49ers have invested heavily in Leeds United as well so 49ers are my favourite NFL team (even though I’ve only been to the Bucaneers).

That’s great! I’m always amazed that you guys like American football.

Very positive study:

Recovering from COVID Provides Roughly as Much Immunity as Receiving the Vaccine
“I think we knew this, that immunity [after natural infection] lasts a long time,” Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, told the Times. “But it’s still very exciting.”

My brother had a mild case of COVID very early (March/April - self-treated at home) and has been donating plasma...his last donation was in late-November and he still had antibodies at that time!

Can you get the vaccine in a bordering state? I live about 20 minutes from my neighbor state. I have one of the CDC’s underlying health issues but my state is not vaccinating under 55 with underlying conditions yet. However the neighbor state is.

I have looked online but don’t see a clear answer. Anyone know?
My husband did this this week. We live in TN. he has a congenital heart condition considered high risk. In TN he is 1c, but in Virginia he is 1b. We found an appointment at a Kroger pharmacy for Friday—the Kroger pharmacies are vaccinating 16-64 year olds with high risk conditions in VA. We even called after the appointment was made and confirmed that we live in TN and have TN driver license and was that OK, they said they didn’t care about state residency and only cared that you met the criteria of the state that the pharmacy was in. So he drove 4 hrs each way to get his first Pfizer vaccine!

Did the donation center ever test titer value? Or, are they just conducting a simple antibody test?

The former would be way more informative.

This is my exact situation but with a different health issue. I’m only an hour away from the pharmacy. I made the appointment late last night for this coming Thursday. I’m going to call tomorrow and verify that they will accept me. I put in my address and it sent me an email verification. Thanks for sharing your situation.

And we’re another week closer to that 6-8 week surge of all surges that Dr Osterholm has been harping about. He’s down to 2-4 weeks at this point.

That is amazing to see all laid out like that. Thank you!

Good luck! Yes, we put in our TN address as well but still called because I would have hated for him to drive all that way and get turned down. Best to double check with the exact place you are going. One city in TN is actually split between TN and Virginia. It’s crazy that some one there can not get a vaccine on the TN side but can literally go across the street to VA and at least be eligible.

Thanks for the tip on Kroger, trying to get the vax for my mom who has health issues but is 60. I had not seen anywhere in VA where you could get the vax under 65, Kroger it is. Nothing in Richmond available right now, but I'll be checking for her!

The state next to me announced they are expecting 50K doses of J&J this coming week. Additionally the governor advised: "During these initial weeks that the Janssen vaccine is available, we will be allocating it across all current delivery channels providing vaccinations for Missourians. Hospitals, local public health agencies, federally-qualified health centers and mass vaccination clinics will be included in the plan to distribute the Janssen vaccine so local providers can help determine which populations could be best served with a single-dose regimen.”

The exciting thing about the J&J shot is whatever amount your state gets that is how many people are vaccinated. No worries about needing to keep some in reserve so for Missouri you will have another 50,000 people vaccinated. Good plan to allow the local providers to decide who should receive the shot and since it does not need to be kept at the low temperature there should be no waste.
