CDC bans cruises in U.S. waters until October citing ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks on ships

Not sure I follow, I am on the same cruise in concierge. We can’t do anything now until Disney cancels so you would be offered the 125% to book your late 2021/early 2022
Right, that's what I said. While we were hopeful for months that we'd be able to go, we understand now that it's all but announced that our cruise is going to be cancelled. I know they offer a refund or the incentive, and we've decided to take a refund until things are a little more settled down.

They need to stop selling cruises for 2020. It's not happening this year, and they are only setting themselves up to have to offer 125% credit to an ever-larger group of customers (unless they plan on raising stateroom prices for 2021 and onward to compensate for the difference).

Not to mention that if a miracle happens and late 2020 cruises DO go, it is unlikely that they’ll be able to go at full occupancy! So why keep selling?!

Check your email. I just got mine. I already had a request into my TA for a refund as soon as they were released. Let’s see how long it will take to hit my credit card. I know it will come in two credits.

My reservation was finally deleted from the app and website. I guess we will hear word on something this morning. Sad it had to go but glad to get the refund.

What date is your cruise? Mine is 10/02 and it's still on there, was really hoping they would cancel. I cannot believe they wouldn't cancel it. It's the last Dream cruise prior to dry doc. They're not going to stock and staff a ship for just one 3 day cruise?

9/18. They haven’t cancelled anything in October yet. They are going with the CDC guidelines.

For those that have had reservations cancelled in the past, is there a deadline in which you have to decide if you are taking the 125% credit or a full refund? We just got our notice from DCL about the cancellation and we want to think about it, but are not sure how much time we have to make a decision...

Thanks!

I had the SAME thought about my 11/8. Here’s to hoping!

Unfortunately my chances of our 10/02 Dream cruise are about the same chances Lloyd had with Mary Swanson. We again get to sit back and watch the latest round of cancellations re-book and fill up the less than 12 months of available DCL cruises. I cannot comprehend how our 10/02 cruise would actually sail, so in regards to that it's unbelievable that we were not on the last round of cancellations. Normally I would think hey that's great, maybe this will be the last ban renewal but it's the dry dock thing that's throwing that off. I do not see why you would crew the Dream and stock it with entertainment, alcohol and food for just 3 nights and then have to remove all that for the dry dock. I try to be wishful thinking but it would help if I heard the dry dock was cancelled or behind or something.

I looked at my first cancellation letter and it doesn't say specifically, so I would think that your credit will just sit there until 3/31/22 which is the last sail by date you can choose. After that, you get a credit but it sounds like you dont get your taxes and port fees back. This is from the email " If you end up not being able to use the FCC, you will be eligible for a refund up to the amount of your original voyage fare. " If you choose the refund vs the credit, it says you get a full refund. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it would be odd that they chose two different phrases.

I cannot believe my 10/02 Dream cruise did not get cancelled. So in the words of Llyod (Jim Carrey) at the end of Dumb and Dumber "So you're saying there's a chance"!
That is really frustrating. I can't imagine (like you) that they would crew a ship for a 3 day cruise and then go into dry dock. Hopefully they will announce your cruise cancellation. The waiting is really the hardest part. Hope you can rebook a cruise you like.

I don't know why DCL won't just announce the cancellation of all Dream cruises until after the drydock. It seems inevitable unless they've pushed back the drydock.

Very good point. They will need to raise prices most likely in the coming years to offset these discounts. May never cruise Disney again.

It all needs to be used on the same cruise though right? The extra is applied as a stateroom balance? Hopefully most with a credit book right away so Disney doesn't get ideas.

Maybe this is why we don't see anything for fall 2021 yet? They are figuring out prices that are expensive but not so much so that people call afoul.

The credit can be used on multiple cruises through March 2022. When we got our FCC in the last batch of cancellations, I pretended to book a cruise just to see how much credit we got. Next to each person's FCC, you could type the amount you wanted to use for that cruise. (Note that I didn't actually book that cruise. We went through our TA and used all our FCC on a longer cruise for next summer.)

Well I thought it had to be on one cruise, but I guess not? I wouldn't ever get one because I will cancel/move before the PIF dates anyway. Interesting though.

I believe you get your taxes and port fees refunded immediately (well, soon) after your cruise is cancelled regardless of what you choose to do with the future cruise credit. That's how it seemed to work for my cancelled cruise in March.

That is what happened with our April cruise that was cancelled. The port fees and taxes come back pretty quickly and I understand that happens regardless of whether you select a refund or a FCC.

And I think DCL has changed their policy and now will let folks use the FCC on more than one cruise. It wasn't that way for the first couple of batches of cancellations.
