cd buting problems

You have files waiting to be burned to a cd. I click burn to cd, it clames to burn but doest. then It wont read the data on any of my other cds, It just keeps saying files waiting to be burned to a cd. SO how do I get these files to the cd?

Troubleshooting always starts with the obvious, so forgive me for asking, but:

Do you have a Readable/Writable CD (or DVD) drive? Has it worked in the past to copy music to a CD and then were you able to play that music CD in another CD playing device besides your computer?

If so, is there a recordable (nothing else already on it) CD/DVD (CD-RW) in the drive? Is it the right type of disk for what you're trying to burn?

Will some other program (other than the one you're using to copy the music) play professionally created CD's that are in that drive? If the drive will not play your regular music CDs, then something is probably physically wrong with the drive.

Post more info when you can and we'll try to troubleshoot this for ya.

Ok I have burned cds on here before. Im trying (DESPERTALLY) to make a data disk. Ive tried the windows program, cyberlink, windows media. Ive got a cd rw in there. ok its now formatting my cd. Is that good?

Yeah, it should format the CD and then it should write to it. Let us know if it did! Or if you got an error message or something.

15 seconds to being formatted. I cant believe I had to reformat it since I had data on it before (then erased it)

Now it says it cant write on the cd because its been finalized!!! What is going on?

OK, you need to start over with a blank (never been written to) CD. There are tons of variables here, but if you're just using Windows it should be able to burn a CD. Don't format the disk first, either -- just use a totally new writeable CD. If you have some specific application you want to use, launch it and let it walk you through it, but again start with a blank, new CD.

It shouldnt be finalized I erased it. Ok so I guess its time to buy new cds and pitch the 6 I tried.

It's still there, you just can't see it.

What program are you using to burn the CD??

Do a right click on the CD and click properties and see if you have any data on it.
