CCV Studios

I love Copper Creek, but I'd only want it for studios. It looks like there are 6 alternate studios out of the 78 studios that are used for lockouts. Is that right? Do you know if all studios are up for grabs, or only the 6?

I don't understand your question. Yes all studios are available for booking as long as they have not already been reserved as part of a 2 bedroom lockoff. The alternate studios are a crap-shoot to get. You can request one but since they are lockoff units most people report the usually go to 2 bedroom reservations. They are several videos on Youtube of people booking them as studios though with walkthroughs of the unit.

At CCV all studios, except any that are sold as fixed weeks, are available for a member to book. The categories are a deluxe studio that will have a tub/shower combo or the other category is with a walk in shower. I believe the alternate studios all fall into the deluxe studio category that has a tub so if you would want to request one of those you'd need to book that category. If you book with a walk in shower then you could not be assigned to the alternate if you requested it. And if you booked the category with the tub it would just be a request not guaranteed to get the alternate layout. The other nuance I believe is that the studios on the ground floor all have tubs so when you book that category you'll have a greater likelihood of being on the ground floor but might get the alternate layout.

I was really interested in CCV for studios and decided against buying there based on how difficult booking can be.
But wait. When a resort is difficult to book (and if that's where you want to stay), then you buy at that resort specifically so you can book there.

Our first two DVC purchases were at BWV, because I wanted to be able to book their Standard View rooms (best value on property, IMO), and at AKV because I wanted to be able to book their Value and Club level rooms.

You can try but certain periods are difficult to get studios at CCV at 11 months (early December, for example).

Unless you buy a fixed week at CCV, you may not always get a studio. That resort oversold points due to the 28 or so cabins that are over priced and sit empty most of the time.
if im not mistaken, wasnt this also the primary live resort when the min went up from 75 or 100, so a ton of the blue card population can't afford a 1BR for more than 2 nights?

In December, it's difficult to book most DVC resorts at 11 months.

A few weeks ago, it was a bear to book a Standard or Savannah View room at AKV in December, even though are among the easier Studios to book at WDW.

2020 & 2021 are anomalies. I would look at them as outliers and not the norm when it comes to booking DVC.

I agree with the overall mindset that if you want to book a hard-to-get studio, you really need to own at that resort. But the problem with CCV is that unlike BWV and AKV where a handful of studios are htg, ALL of the studios at CCV are difficult to book. And that means that if you only purchased enough points to book a studio, you're in for a rough ride as an owner.

Out of all the resorts CCV needed to just have 1 studio booking category. Either tubs in the rooms or walk in showers. It wouldn't solve the studio problem but would assist a little. I still can't wrap my head around why DVC has such problems getting the ratios of villas better. PVB they went overboard and then back to the same old at CCV but with the Cabin points thrown in.

Hey now. There are at least a few people with a lot of points at other resorts that book cabins. They are not nearly as available as the Bungalows. Availability is pretty scarce for them, besides August, then December is pretty available, but that is out of the 7 month booking window right now.

Depends on the time of year you are booking at CCV. November to December all categories are hard to get. If you really want CCV studios, outside of November December, in the 11 month window you should be able to book them. if you want November or December then you will need a fixed week.

Do you think the studio issue at CCV would lead to WL being a contender down the line for conversion to DVC?

I wonder if there would be any way to balance out the imbalance of cabin points.

I am wondering why everyone says CCV is hard to book. Outside of November December, never had an issue in 11 month window

When I was deciding to buy more points I considered CCV and monitored bookings. Studios were extremely difficult from mid September to mid January, the times I would want to most likely go if staying there.

In the end, that as well as not having easy access to other resorts..something we love.. it didn’t make sense.

I don't think so, unless Disney is having trouble filling the WL hotel rooms on a regular basis.

They would have to add the converted rooms to the CCV association (and thus have the same point chart and expiration date as CCV). Don't know if they would do it or not. I suppose it would depend on how many years CCV has left when they are deciding to convert.

IMO, it could help if most of the adds are studios. Availability would be more like the Poly, which really doesn't seem to have much of a problem at 11 months.

CCV has a terrible point to room ratio for Studios. The Cabins screw up the point allotments basically in resulting in overselling studios since such a large portion of points are in rooms that people are just not booking with their home resort points.

Great explanation!
