We are a little late to the DVC game, with 20+ years of vacations already. But we're also at a point in life with time to travel and are comfortable with this kind of purchase. I'm hoping to strike the right balance of enough points and value. We will almost always book studios since it's just 2 of us.
We are about to close on our first contract (resale) at BWV. We bought there because it's our favorite resort and don't mind the 2042 exp. It's only 109 points but should be enough for us to make a few shorter trips/year in a studio. I want these points to be used solely for BWV if possible.
I've been looking for another small contract to add- to be used more of SAP. We placed an offer today and it was accepted!! on a 75 point CCV contract. I would never have considered that resort without all the helpful information I've read here. It is probably a little more per point than originally planned. I have looked at SSR but ultimately thought CCV would be better. It's been hard making a decision. Tell me all the good things about owning at CCV.

I used to own CCV but sold it a bit ago to buy Riviera since ultimately I kept staying there. But let me tell you selling CCV was hard and still sad about it. It’s a beautiful resort, small, a lot of resort activities (especially with the bus/boat to FW), and I think some of the best built interiors of any DVC room. The rooms have held up really well (I think the lack of carpeting helps).

The best part of lodge is easily Christmas time, my favorite of all time (sorry AKL and GF). The atmosphere just screams Christmas with the log cabin feel. It is hard because I travel thanksgiving every year so I always visit there. Also Geyser point is the best burger on property and one of the best environments to eat at. Especially sit there to watch the Electric Water Pageant.

I don’t think you made a mistake as SAP there. The rooms are affordable (albeit fill up quickly between 10-11 months for studios) and you want some home resort priority there.

I had to reread the "selling CCV was hard"- at first I thought I took it to mean oh no you had trouble selling it :crazy2: Then I realized what you meant. We haven't stayed there so I'm happy to hear about the rooms and know about Geyser Point! We like to travel during Nov or Dec too so that makes me excited about doing that next year!! Thanks for the info

We bought resale CCV earlier this year - we stopped by during the holidays last December and it absolutely stunning. I was definitely nervous bc we almost exclusively stay at Crescent Lake resorts due to their location near EPCOT and HS (our favorite parks) and CCV doesn’t have the best transportation options.

But after having made our first visit, I can confirm we loved it. We added a few days at the end of our existing CL stay and it was perfect - peaceful, but also so much to do. It was so nice to unwind a bit after hitting the parks hard! My young DD said it is her favorite resort (which is saying a lot).

Love hearing that! We will be doing some non park visits and CCV sounds perfect for those trips

I’m afraid you’ve made a horrible mistake. You’ll have the same longing regret that many of us have: “I should have bought DVC sooner!”

But seriously, for anyone who doesn’t mind the 2042 date, you can’t go wrong with BWV. We love that whole area and being able to walk to 2 parks is amazing. 109 pts will go a long way with that point chart. If we hadn’t just bought RIV direct I’d still be stalking the resale boards looking for 75-100 points in my use year. Naturally there’s a perfect one for sale right now 😂 must…resist…

And CCV is one of the best resale deals right now, perfect for “SAP+” Love WL, you chose 2 of my favorites!

If you want a studio, you need to be owner at CCV. So, in that respect, you made a wise choice.

Wilderness Lodge has the Eisner era written all over it—big, beautiful, tons of theming, grand lobby, amazing pool and the it's been left relatively untouched by penny pinching management.

It still has its original Native American theming, lobby stream, geyser and all the other little touches Disney used to do. They added Geyser Point in 2017 with CCV and redid the quiet pool near Boulder.

It's one of my favorite resorts. Congratulations.

Love your name!! We live in Alabama and are huge Bama fans 🐘

I think you chose a great resort for SAP. The small contract at CCV affords you the flexibility to purchase another resort should you desire but still gives you the ability to book studios during the holiday season and enjoy the decorations during that time. It's also one of the best values with low dues, long term life and point charts. You did fine.

Y'all are about to talk me into CCV resale 😂

I wouldn't mind a small CCV for the holidays but alas I am poor and future money is already earmarked for Poly :X
I'm interested in seeing what Poly comes in at as well.

Most of my points are at VGF now so I'd probably be more likely to buy more RIV (eventually) than Poly, but we'll see!

We're the opposite haha, majority of our points are at RIV, we definitely need a monorail resort. When we were first looking at buying in they were drawing up a VGF contract for us but ended up switching to RIV because Epcot is where our heart is. Had another opportunity to buy VGF during the blowout sale.. turned it down again to buy more RIV and also keep the door open for Poly 😂
