I've been reading tips on Port Adventures and was looking for some advice. We are completely skipping Nassau to do spa activities and spend time at the pool/Aquaduck. My DD(12) DD(10) and I would like to join the 5k and also do the Biking, Snorkeling, floating, and stingray package. Does that sound like too many things, not enough time? We will be sailing on the Disney Dream Aug.7-11, 2017 Bahamas cruise. Any suggestions?

Depending on how fast you run, and if you return to the ship afterward, you would allow at least an hour for the 5k. The Rays program is about 45 minutes. That would allow the rest of the day for biking, snorkeling and floating.

I totally agree to miss Nassau. So much on The Dream to enjoy this port is not that exciting. We always miss this also. The other bookings I think are fine! Do enjoy she is a gorgeous ship.

Hmmmmm.....I'm not sure my DD's would be running. I've done the 5k Breast Cancer walk several times but I haven't taken my DD's with me.

Someone described it as the "Tijuana" of the Bahamas. I've been to Guatemala and El Salavador several times. Figured it's pretty much the same minus the giant mosquitos and snakes. I'm looking forward to doing my own exploring while the DD's are in the club.

Lol! We enjoy looking from The Dream at the others in the heat trying to walk on the most frightful pavements I have ever encountered and I live in Europe! I am disabled me and Nassau do not mix apart from Diamonds international! Sure The Atlantis is nice but I would rather save my bucks and stay on the ship, enjoy the cinema , sit by the pool , eat lunch at the wonderful Cabanas, get an ice cream from Eye Scream , watch the funnel vision. You come away thinking there are too many things to do on the ship! You paid for it why get off! Castaway Cay oh yes we love that! It's adorable.

Thanks for answering my questions @dcassetta and @Paula Sedley-Burke. I think I forgot to mention this is my first cruise ever. I worked at Disneyland for 6months in 2004 and have been obsessed with the magic of Disney since. I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada and pretty much feel that I went from The Happiest Place on Earth to the Unhappiest Place on Earth AKA Lost Wages Nevada. Thanks Again :)!

Congrats on your first cruise! You will love it. How neat you worked at DL! Oh we love Vegas! Really not a great place to live I guess. We loved California. But Disney World at Orlando is wonderful and the cruise line. Oh my! We are addicted! Going on a back to back in September 3 night then 4 night on The Dream! Have you considered an FE?

Las Vegas is definitely not the place to live with kids. I haven't been to WDW yet, hopefully 2018. I also have Tokyo Disney, Shanghai Disney, Hong Kong Disney, Paris Disney on my Bucket List. My working experience a DL was amazing. Yes, I am totally considering an FE. I'm hoping to find a group of 10-15 cabins. Already have some ideas for gifts.

Actually we've been there twice and enjoyed what we did. The first time we did a DCL island tour excursion (a lot of history is there), and then after my DH and DD visited the pirate museum -- which they said was amazing. Last time we did the excursion to Atlantis and spent the whole day visiting the aquarium and resort and loved it. One of our favorite excursions.

I will say that the hawkers as you are trying to walk back to the ship can be annoying, but we ran into the same thing at the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

We have been to Acapulco and I can honestly say that that place was a cesspool -- shocked us and we did not expect at all considering it used to be such a vacation destination. As soon as the shuttle dropped us off in town at the end of the tour, it smelled like one giant urinal and we couldn't wait to get back to the ship. We didn't feel that way in Nassau (then again the last time we visited was 2011).

We did the walking tour in The Unofficial Guide and had no issues. The locals along the way were nice. One lady let us know out her car window to step into the crosswalk and cars were obliged to stop for us. Picked up a bottle of rum from the distellery along the way.

Enjoy your explorations!
