I know that $1500 is standard hold for room charging and if you exceed it they authorize more. Do you know if they will reduce it if asked, say to $1000.00? We are switching resorts 3 times and normally don't worry about the holds but one of the cards we were going to use for the trip is frozen right now for a fraud investigation(someone hacked into our account and stole our thank you rewards points-used keystroke malware to get my user id and password and bought $600.00 worth of amazon ecards). I really don't want payment for all the rooms, room charges, and $4500.00(because of three different check ins) worth of room holds tying up the card we are using for the next ten days(We check in tomorrow). In my experience it takes a few days for each hold to be released. Anyone ever ask for and get a lower charge amount?

First, they do not put a hold on your card for any amount of $, the $1500 is the max that a customer can charge to their room before they have to go down to the front desk and refresh it. Yes; you can request a lower limit or you can not allow charging to your room at all. If you are worried about CC fraud, get some GC and give them those numbers for room charging.

PP is correct. Unlike most other hotels, there is no hold placed on your card. You don't have to put down a card at all if you don't want to. As PP said, the $1500 is what you are allowed to rack up per day before they will run your card for that amount.

Not $1500 per day. Each time the actual charges made reach $1500 they will process the card on file.

It's not a problem. If you're at a deluxe resort, with a $1500 limit, they send through a $1 charge to begin with ....just to make sure it's a working account. Then, your room charges are totaled up...when they reach $1500, they are submitted to the credit card company. If you try to charge something, on your room account, after reaching the $1500, the CM will have you talk to someone on the phone, authorizing an addtl amount to be charged against.
There is never an actual 'hold' on your credit card. If you choose not to spend more than $750, then that's what gets charged, at the end of your stay!!
