We spent three days last weekend at Charleston Place, which is part of the Concierge Collection. We used points for a club level (concierge) room. We had a wonderful time! The hotel is beautiful and is conveniently located near the City Market, the harbor, and the King Street shopping area. There is also an upscale shopping mall attached to the hotel.
The Club Lounge was great--they offered a fairly extensive continental breakfast (fruits, yogurt, cereals, cheese, meats (cold), breads and muffins, and all types of beverages. There were drinks (including alcoholic beverages) and snacks available throughout the day, and tea & scones in the afternoon. There was also a nice selection of appetizers in the early evening and desserts later on. The extra points for the Club level were well worth it. Except for lunch, you could, if you wanted, eat all of your meals in the lounge.
The pool area is gorgeous! It is heated and indoors, with a retractable roof that can be opened in nice weather. There is a hot tub (way too hot!), and a small outdoor kid's pool. They also have a spa that we didn't try but heard good things about.
We took a tour of Magnolia Plantation--it was nice. I think April/May would be the best time to visit; I'm sure the gardens are beautiful then. We took a horse-drawn carriage ride (we loved this) with Classic Carriages (we pre-booked on the Internet, which turned out to be a good thing since all of the tours were sold out the day we went). We also went to Edisto Beach (about 40 mi. south of Charleston)--it's a nice beach with wonderful shelling. I found a fosselized snake that's very cool.
We ate dinner one night at Slightly North of Broad (SNOB) and it was excellent. The second night we ate at the Boathouse in Charleston--it was OK (the she crab & corn bisque was wonderful!)--but not good enough to go back.
