CC 5K

No fee. There will be info in your navigator about where and when to meet on CC day. There's no other sign up required.

Here is a screen shot of a past Navagaitor. You probably don't need to sit-up right away like you do for some of the Princess meet and greets. But you should do it prior to your Castaway Cay day. image.png

We just had to sign up at the Port Adventures desk and they gave us tickets like for other excursions. No charge, then just meet up where told to on CC day.

I don't remember when I signed up for, but there is info on personal navigator about it and we got tickets at Guest Service desk.

The distance is not something I'm concerned about, but it's worth knowing for those who like to keep track of mileage.

@bumbershoot is correct. My GPS watch measured the course at about 3 miles (a true 5K is 3.1 miles).

I think it is measured as a full 5K if you do the full circle back at Serenity Bay. Most people short the turn losing their .1 it is a very easy course to cut.

I would sign up on the first or second day of your cruise. I haven't experienced it being full but have heard since it has gotten more popular and is a "free" runDisney event more people are doing it. Plus the 2015 medal has been the best to date so more people want it. It is possible they will cap it due to course size but I'm unsure if they have ever done it before.

FWIW I've done the full circle, and it still isn't a full 5K. When we were doing the Castaway Challenge last January that was one of the BIG deals talked about (when you're paying that much for a 5K small things become big LOL), that the course for that day was an actual, measured, 5K and therefore different than the island run.

Only way it affects me is that I get a little ego boost from my time (still very slow), but then I remember I didn't run as far as my medal says I ran. ;)

Not sure why but we have been on 2 Fantasy cruises where the minimum age was 12. Just thought I'd give the heads up that it seems to change.
I was just posting what I could read in the little shot of the Navigator posted above. It says "Please note that runners must be 10 years of age or older to participate."

No problem. It is usually 10. Not sure why on 2 of the 3 I've done they switched the age to 12. Doesn't really seem to be a rhyme or reason to it either.
