CBS reporting Disney offering buyouts to execs

All organizations are top heavy. This is a good move rather than laying off the people that actually do the work.

most likely this is a "culling of the herd" if you will. This is a common occurrence at large corporations. Granted, the economy today puts a whole new meaning on it.

More details.

"The buyouts were offered to 313 executives in Orlando at Walt Disney World, Disney Vacation Club and Disney Cruise Line. In Southern California, another 193 were offered buyouts in Glendale, where the company's Imagineering unit is based, along with 91 at Disneyland in Anaheim and 22 at Disney corporate headquarters in Burbank.

Disney said the buyout offers apply to most director-level-and-above employees at its domestic parks. Only a few executives with overriding contracts or other special circumstances are exempt."

Very well put. For too long, a lot of companies get rid of the "front line" people so they can let the exec's keep their phoney-baloney jobs. The CMs at customer levels are the life blood of Disney . They are the ones that guests interact with, and are the first-line folks in dealing with the public. How they behave and react with guests is very important to the success of the company. Good move on Disney's part for a change.
