I was excited to watch this show and wanted to like it, but it's just not catching my attention. The premise is good, but the writing seems a bit off. I watched two episodes... I will watch a few more and hope that it picks up.

According to the below site, Samantha is Hetty's Great-Great-Great-Great Granddaughter. I think it was touched on briefly in the first episode, IIRC.

The CBS version of the show is terrible.

Love the BBC version. Hope that one gets more episodes.

Try the UK version. It is so much better.

I'm right with you in that something is off in this version. I do wonder if it's the writers trying to reuse the British script, different humor. Or if it's the casting. I told DH that if they needed a blonde then perhaps Gillian Jacobs who played Britta on Community, would have been better.

Funny to hear that it was based on a British show. I did not know that.

When we watched the first episode, I liked it, my wife did not. I said, it is kinda like British Humor.

Now I know. I am still liking it, my wife is tolerating it.

I like it, think it's cute. I do like the couple and their interactions together. Have not seen the British version so I have no comparison.

It takes place in the Hudson Valley, where some of my family is from, so some of the local jokes are extremely funny to me.

Just finished season 1 of the British series. It’s not laugh out loud but I watched 6 episodes, so it’s nice. I like the burnt lady the best.

Not yet. I’ll probably watch it afterwards. I saw the trailer for the CBS one a couple days ago and thought it looked interesting. The consensus on YouTube, though, was also that the British version is better.

My thoughts on this is similar to NBC’s “The Office”. It was similar to the British original but had its own spin to the American version. This show now has a full season order and will probably get a season 2 green light before spring. Ratings are good so far. One major difference between this version and the British original is that the British version (currently in season 3) only has 6 episodes a season/series (as they call it). The US version will have 23 episodes, so the characters will have more depth and storylines to explore. The British version is meant as a filler show, waiting for the channel’s mainstays to return for a new season. Most of their cast/writers are involved in another British show called Horrible Histories, I believe.

I didn't think I'd like Ghosts, (CBS version), but gave it a shot. It's really funny. I can't wait for each week's episode.

I will say, I didn't know about the British version. It looks like the first episode of the CBS version is a copy of the BBC version. Are all the episodes like that? I hope we're going to see something different.

Also, where can I watch the BBC version? (please say Netflix or prime)
