Had a 5 day stay at Caribbean Beach. Took a long time for everything: checking in and out, had to wait in long lines for food, had to wait for the shuttle to take us from the hotel reservation building to our hotel then had to walk from the shuttle to the hotel. Had to wait for the shuttles to go back and forth to the parks. Most of the workers at this hotel were not friendly.

They only had one bar outside by the pool and it was very expensive and when we had a storm they closed the bar so we had no other place inside to go to. You had to walk at least 1/4 to 1/2 mile to get to anything at the resort itself from where we stayed.

The hotel that we stayed in (Jamaica) was dirty and not very clean outside of our room. The food was not good and we only found one restaurant where we could actually be seated and waited on. All the other food places were just stand in line and order then you take it back to a table that you could find that was clean. I asked one of the workers if they could clean one of the tables that we wanted to sit at and she literally took a used napkin that was left at the table from someone else and just wiped off the leftover food from the table to the floor. We were thankful that we had trays to keep our food on to eat off of.

The best thing about this place overall was the big pool they had. The kids had alot of fun at the pool, but, other than that, not to much more to do. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Also, I did speak with management and will be writing a letter to them as well.

Gee,
Looks like you should have done some research into the CBR and its amentities before booking.

It is well known that the resort is quite spread out and you do have to do a bit of walking.

A little research and a request for a specific section would have cut down your walks, though a lot of walking is required in a Disney vacation.

Lines- Welcome to Disney. Yes, when it is crowded, you do wait in lines for transportation, food, etc. Did oyu look at how large CBR is and how many rooms there are.

Restaurants- Again is it well known and published that there is only one sit down restaurant at CBR and a food court.

Pool Bar- Yes, most outdoor pool bars do tend to close in bad weather due to common sense and safety issues.

There are hundreds of web sites and books that show and document how spread otu CBR is, how many restaurants and bars are there, etc. Did you look at any of them?
:rolleyes1

Hind sight is 20/20. It was the only mod available when I booked. Now I know why!! Plus, I was talked into it by all the posts stating everything was only a 10 min walk.

Your making me want to switch resorts again, LOL. I was really looking forward to staying at this resort and deluxe is not in our budget this year so i guess I'm going to stay put and try it for myself. Thanks for posting your review.

Sorry your stay was not so good but
I've read similar things about almost all of the different resorts.
We just returned from POFQ had very similar experiance when
it came to clean tables in the FC area (was a bit disappoited at
how crowded it was-but hey take it in stride).

We have booked CBR next year and we will be on the fartherest
end of the Resort--Trinadad South (wanted the newly remodeled
Pirate Rooms) I am getting myself mentally prepare for long walks
and waiting for internal shuttle. I have also planned out my
trip so that we won't be having to rush around as much--
everyother day at parks and mostly hanging around resort.
I'm really looking forward to our stay.

I hope your next WDW Resort stay will be better.

Couldn't have said it better myself, to be honest. All moderates only have one sit down restaurant, and yes, they are very large resorts so there will be lines at popular times. Sorry your stay wasn't great, next time you might want to try a deluxe, though service can vary depending on when and where, etc. Try not to let it bother you, in the grand scheme of things none of those things are a big deal.

Sorry about your stay.

I've also had some bad experiences at CBR with dirty rooms and unfriendly CM's. It is a huge resort, that is a definite.

I'll be waiting for your report! We're doing CBR (first time at any mod) in February. My girls are baton twirling in Twirlmania and it's peak season so we're trying CBR.

I think if the OP had just done some research he wouldn't have been disappointed.

Sorry about your stay, I love CBR.

You waited in lines? Dont know what to say.

Had to wait for the buses? Rent a car, its a bus it doesnt come when you whistle. Im baffled you thought busses would be otherwise.

From jamaica its about five minutes to the food court. A 1/2 mile is more than a little bit of an exageration.

You'd experience all of this at any mod you went to, they're all spread out except PoFQ. You should probably drop the extra money next time and get a deluxe to avoid some of your problems.

10 minutes from anywhere to the food court is pretty accurate to the previous poster. Even the furthest away is probably only 10 minutes to the central food court.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at the CBR. We've never stayed, but we did not like the food court at all...although we did not encounter very long lines.

We just got back from CBR yesterday as well and stayed there last year in Jamaica actually and were in Trinidad North this year. I have to disagree with pretty much everything the OP has said.

The employees were nothing but nice, every single one we encountered. The food was delicious and we ate there quite a bit. There's lots of variety and it was all very good.

The rooms certainly are in need of an update and they're working on that which is great.

The pool was AWESOME! My DS loved every minute we spent in that pool!!

As for the buses to the parks, were you expecting a town car to pick you up every day??? LOL!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: You made me fell better about my resort choice.

We are headed down in Dec. for our fourth stay at CBR. Yes, it is a bit spread out, a bit of research would have told you that! On our last trip we were in Trinidad South, the farthest from Old Port Royale, and we found the 5 MINUTE walk relaxing!!! The employees were all friendly and RETURNED smiles in a heartbeat.

For anyone who has not stayed here, this is a great resort. We love it and cannot wait to go back.

Everyone waits in line...not sure why you expected not to:confused3

Want to really wait for a bus...try staying at pop, lol. I don't like waiting so we rent a car.

Yes, the drinks are expensive (found that out on my birthday....limited my celebrating, lol). And I would expect them to close during inclement weather.

The hotel looks fairly large, I've never stayed there (looking forward to it for next summer!) if you did some research and it was the only one available, you could have gone down a level to a value or up to a deluxe.

Again if you did research you would have noticed only one sit down restaurant. Can't say much about the cleanliness, that stinks it didn't get clean.

I highly suggest if you go again, please do some research so you have some idea what to expect and I bet if you do so, you might enjoy your next trip!!

Hope it all works out if you go again!

While I've never personally stayed at this resort. My sis and her family do nearly every trip and love it. We've visited them while they were there and thought the resort was very nice, including the food court. As far as buses they can be hit and miss even at the deluxes!! Sorry you did'nt enjoy your stay.

Ugh, nothing worse then staying at a sorry, lame resort on your trip. :sad2: Really validates our practice of staying only deluxe. Maybe you'll get some compensation from Disney Management for your trouble.

Although we have stayed in deluxes before and enjoyed them (and one day hope to try AKL), they are very overpriced. You can have bad service anywhere--we had it had the Contemporary.

Compensation? For what? The OP not being an informed consumer? Having to wait in line for food at a resort with somewhere in the vicinity of 2,000 (so, potentially, over 8,000 Guests at any given time)? Disney not providing personalized, instantaneous, door-to-door transportation between the resort and the parks? CBR closing the outside bar during a storm, likely for the safety of its workers?

The only possible legitimate issues might be the "dirty" room, and the difficulty finding a clean table in the food court - and there's no way to prove those, now. Contacting Disney expecting compensation for what might be true but might just be perception, after the Guest goes home, is pretty pointless. Problems should be addressed WHILE THEY'RE BEING EXPERIENCED, so they can be corrected:
"Hello, Housekeeping. This is room xxxx - the room is not cleaned to our standards. "X", "Y", and "Z" need to be done. Thank you."
or
"Good afternoon, Food Court Manager. We are unable to find a clean table at which to sit and eat the food we purchased. Thank you for your help."
