Most guidebooks I've read say that a rental car is highly recommended for CBR. I'm interested in staying there. I love the theme. BUT, I want to stay on site so that I don't have to have a car. We'd have a 2 year old with us also. How's the transportation to the parks. Also what about getting around at the resort? Thanks all!

the transportation to the parks was fine.

It is getting to the bus stop that would be the problem.

this resort is BIG and has very few bus stops.

remember you have to fold up the stroller on the bus.

I don't think you will have any problems getting around at CBR. There is an internal bus if you don't want to walk. I would recommend requesting Jamaica if you aren't paying for a preferred location.

I don't think you'll find you need a car. Disney transportation, for all the complaining about it on some of the boards, does a great job and we found it to be very quick with very short waits at CBR. And, in case you don't want to walk to the food court, there is an internal bus that can pick you up from your area and drop you off at the food court. Don't worry -- you'll have a great time.

I STRONGLY dissagre with the statement that the resort has "very few" bus stops. Each village has a bus stop, plus there's a bus stop at Old Port Royale, the site of the food court/restaurant/main pool/shops. Depending on where your room is, you might be VERY close to your village's bus stop. I would think that, just as a simple matter of geography, the waterview rooms ($15 extra per night) in any particular village would be the furthest from that village's bus stop.

Here is a link to a map of CBR: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm.
The two times I stayed there, I was in Aruba 53 and most recently in Trinidad North 33. The map is either outdated or not to scale, because it shows the Trinidad North bus stop closest to building 31, but my Room 3340 (a corner room) was the closest room to the bus stop (except of course for the room directly below it). When I stayed in Aruba 53 I think it was about a three minute walk to the bus stop.

So I think there are PLENTY of bus stops at CBR.

As to the OP's question about guide books saying you need a car at CBR? Rubbish, I say! If you are very concerned about having a room too far from OPR, you can pay $15 extra a night for what they call "preferred location," which means the buidlings closest to OPR. By the way, you can't pay $30 extra per night for a waterview room in a "preferred location" building; I guess that means some people get lucky. In addition, there is an "internal shuttle" bus that only goes among all of the resort's bus stops but does not go outside the resort.

Oh, and as to transportation to and from the parks, I thought it was great!

I love CBR.
