CBR vs. Value Resort

I decided if we don't stay at a value at least once, we'll never know if we will like it or not...so I went for it and booked Pop Century and cancelled CBR. The CBR cost was $2,561 for 7 nights/8 day ticket w DDP and park hopper/WPFAM in a king bed. At Pop Century, it's $2090 for the same exact set of things for a savings of $471! Hopefully, we'll get the king bed request honored, and I'll have the knowledge in the future of if i'd like it or not!

Yes, you are right! (With everyone telling you to go value, though, I had to play Devil's advocate! LOL) It is a good idea to try the values! Pop is an excellent choice and the standard rooms overlooking the lake are very peaceful! You can walk to AoA for the food court there and you have the opportunity to take some fantastic pictures on the AoA grounds! I loved my stays at Pop! I am sure that you will enjoy it there. Plus saving the $471 is pretty sweet!

ENJOY!!

So my fiancee and I are planning on going sept 19-26 to WDW for free dining, and im currently at CBR with a king room. However, i did some research and getting a value resort and upgrading to the regular dining plan, the difference is $400between value and CBR!!!

So now, I'm really wondering what i should do. I stayed at CBR once back in 1992 as a kid and probably liked it, and have stayed at CSR twice since then, and also enjoyed it very much. If it was just a little amount of money, I would do CBR hands down, but this is a sizeable chunk of change.

I've never stayed at any value resort before, and really have no idea what to expect at all. Will it be louder? Will it not matter because its the off season? Thanks in advance!

It will be louder. I recommend if your staying at pop to get the top floor. Yet you will hear people cough, go pee and take showers. All value resorts have this unfortunate feature.

CBR is way more relaxing, quiet. Newly refurb and that means new comfy beds and bedding and fancier rooms. More scenic views and a relaxing atmosphere. I love pop but CBR is a vacation for me. Value is for sleeping only. But I do love the pool and the giant scenery.

We're staying at Pop the first night of our November stay and CBR from then on out, so I've been watching this thread with interest! I've never stayed at Pop or any of the values before (although I have visited), just because I like the more relaxed vibe of CBR (or CSR, or what have you). We looked into staying at Pop with upgraded dining as opposed to CBR in a regular (i.e. not Pirate) room, and the savings was not enough to convince me to forego my covered bus stops, hot tub, coffee maker, and laid back atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, Pop looks really cool and I am looking forward to checking it out, but... Basically it just depends on what you're looking for in a vacation, and I want the peace and quiet I have found at CBR in the past. :)

We like the CBR it has suited us well over several trips, takings the granddaughter to the All Star Music Resport in June with is our first stay at a value, we will see how it goes. We like the moderate Resports they just have a little more but not to much.

We quit staying at Values a few years ago solely because the walls are paper thin. We heard all the neighbors talking, laughing, walking, showering, and peeing. It was difficult to sleep! Never again... we rent a room primarily to sleep. All the other Moderate benefits are icing on the cake.

I've stayed !at Fort /Wilderness Campground, CBR, ASMo, ASMu, and PoP. I enjoyed myself at each place. Right now there are other priorities in my life than staying in a Deluxe (although my preference would be the Beach Club)! Therefore my choice would be PoP. Fortunately I'm so tired at the end of the day that I don't need to worry about noise outside my room. We have stayed on the ground floor the past few years and there was not any noise that bothered me!

Not only that, but I think the bus service is better at Pop.

I don't think you'll regret the decision to go with Pop. We've stayed at all three levels but have settled into Pop since it opened with the exception of one stay at AoA. For us it just came down to feeling like we we're wasting money on a room and location we're in for maybe 8 hours max. When we're at Disney we're at the parks from open to close and then get back to hotel to sleep, shower and repeat. $400 can get you a cool souvenir or go back into the pot for your next trip. I miss the Icees from Pops opening but you can't win them all.

Very similar choice for us. We've always stayed at POR but the difference in cost has really increased between value and mod. This time we're in ASMu with QSDP and saving more than $300. I agree that we need to try the value resorts or we won't know if we like them or not.

Here are the things you will get at a Moderate over a Value. Then it is up to you to decide if these are worth the extra $$ over a Value.

Larger rooms
Double sinks
Coffee maker in room
Queen beds
Lusher grounds
Multiple covered bus stops
Sit down restaurant (Except POFQ but you can walk over to Boatwrights at POR)
Hot tubs
Pool Slide

I need to read further, but you also get ceiling fans at a moderate!

I was online today and for earlier in Sept they had cheaper rooms at the mods than I had seen previously because the cheaper type rooms were not available for a while due to all the booking and jockying.

Good luck!
