Couple of ?'s:

I have a standard room @ the CBR- however, would it be possible for me to "reserve" a better country at the standard rates for (walking to/from) bus stops, food court etc?

Where is the new pool going to be located?

ALSO: I HAVE RESSIES CONFIRMED @ CBR- HOWEVER I AM STILL THINKING THAT I MAY CHANGE MY RESSIE TO A VALUE RESORT- SINCE MY RESSIE IS PAID IN FULL, WOULD I STILL BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT?
Thinking about changing to POP or ASM.

THANKS:cool2: :cool2:

You can't reserve a better country at standard rates - but be sure to but you choice on your reservation as a request.....The new pool is located where the old themed pool was - near the food court at Port Royale. You can change your reservation at any time. I just returned from POR where I had a credit on my account - I had added my AAA discount after my room was paid in full....just left the credit on my room key and used it for meals.

Unless you pay extra for a preferred location room, there is no way to "reserve" (and thus guarantee) any particular island. You can request Jamaica or Aruba as safetymom suggests, but just keep in mind that it will be only a request. Again, there's just no way to guarantee getting Aruba or Jamaica, however.

Jumping on and also suggesting Jamaica or Aruba. If location is super important as well, go a step further and request a specific building number.
:goodvibes

We stayed in CBR in April. Had a corner room (King bed) in Jamaica. Very nice location. We could see the Illuminations fireworks from the walkway outside our room.

The furthest area is probably Trinidad South, other than that, none of the areas are really that out of the way. And there are enough bus stops that you're never too far from one of them.

It's a great resort for having a nice relaxing walk, and it never seems too crowded.

Have a great time.

Just got back from CBR. We were in Bldg. 25 of Martinique and loved it. Close to OPR, watched fireworks from front door and beach. Not sure why more people don't recommend Martinique.

Because buildings 24, 25 and 26 of Martinique are preferred location, meaning that if you merely REQUEST it, your odds of getting it are very low because everyone who RESERVED AND PAID FOR preferred location rooms are in line ahead of you.

That doesn't mean that a free upgrade to a preferred location room in Martinique or Trinidad North is impossible ... it just means the odds are very very much against you as compared with a successful request for a room in Aruba or Jamaica.

What is the fax number to fax in a room request? I requested Jamaica when I made my reservations, but I want to fax it in again, as we will be there one week from today!!

I have stayed all over the resort. I love it there and will stay at any of the "villages"

I like the fact that my "standard view" room is not FULL parking lot LOL! Plus it has hammocks, tons of quiet pools (feature pools only do it for me if it's SAB. Just a slide isn't worth dealing with the crowds for me)

Disney CMs have been pretty open that most of those faxes are filed in the round file cabinet under the desk... thanks to the internet they got overloaded!

So should I just call CBR directly if I want to confirm a building request?

It's highly unlikely your call will ever reach CBR.

EVen if you call the direct number to CBR, the call will be answered at a call center that is part of the Disney Reservations Center, not at CBR. The person who answers that call is trained to let the call go through to CBR itself only if it's something they can't answer themselves. SInce your call is about your reservation, the CM at the Disney Reservations Center will handle the call. They are like gate-keepers when it comes to incoming calls for the resorts ... they won't let anything through unless absolutely necessary (necessary on their part, not on your part).

We stayed in room 2524 in Building 25. Close to everything.

We paid for a standard room and were put in Martinique, but I was thinking building 23.....the CM said we weren't in a preferred room, but it was great for us!

So, I guess I just hope that they got my request when I made the original reservation. I sooooo don't want to end up in Trinidad South! We were in Jamaica 45 in November and it was PERFECT!!

Yes.

If you want to feel better, call the main WDW number, and when you get through ask if there are any requests noted on your reservation. The CM will read the request that is attached to your reservation. You will feel better at that point because you'll realize that if the call center reservationist can see your request, so can the room assigner at CBR.

On my last trip to CBR, I asked for anything but Trinidad South, and reiterated this at check-in, too. Guess what - I got Trinidad South. Asked for something else, the CM REFUSED and told me sorry. I just feared I would get Trinidad South and sadly I was 100% right. I really didn't like it the area at all. Too far, too disconnected, too remote (isolation from humanity wasn't what I had in mind on a solo trip). :(

Make requests all you want, but someone has to be in Trinidad South - and it may be you! They can't move everyone, and they have to say no to some people about moving to better areas. Requests are often completely ignored and never viewed, so requesting doesn't solve everything.

Just be mentally prepared for the worst area (Trinidad South), and be pleasantly surprised if you get something better!
