I am travelling with my husband and our two young children in September, one being an infant under 1. I have read All Star Movies is currently undergoing renovations (although the Disney website doesn't say it is - it's just something I read) and CBR is under major renovations.

We have our own rental car so we will not be using Disney transportation at all.

We are on the regular Dining Plan and have our table service restaurants booked but will likely eat breakfast at the resort.

If it were up to you, which would you choose and why?

Thanks so much for any insight! :)

I picked ASM preferred. It is a smaller resort and since will probably get drinks or meals from the food court, less walking. CBR is a large resort and your room could be a walk to the food court. Also the ASM looks more like a Disney hotel. However, there is no slide or hot tub at the pool.

As you can see by my signature I have stayed at both but prefer ASMo.

CSR is huge so personally I won't stay there unless I book a preferred room, so my vote is for ASM in the preferred room.

Another vote for avoiding CBR until the construction is finished. My DD and I stayed at ASM in a preferred room a few years back and we loved it.

The construction is really that bad? This is disappointing to me. My son was really looking forward to the pool at CBR. Thanks for the help.

I would pick any of the values, standard or preferred, over CBR until the majority of their massive construction is finished. There are many Youtube videos showing the construction if you want to check them out and decide for yourself.

I believe that currently there is no food court at CBR? (Currently both the food court and table service restaurant have been replaced by a tent and food trucks.) Not sure if the new food court/restaurant will be completed by September, though? Even if they are tentatively hoping to be open by then, things get delayed.

Vote for CBR, we stayed there in Nov '17 and will again in July '18. Their pool is amazing and the kids will love it. It is true the dining options are all screwed up and likely won't be completed till December. That said, the food tent is only a Quick Service Credit and an excellent use of one. The construction does appear daunting but we found it to not impact our stay at all.
Shoot for either Aruba or Jamaica, and check out the CBR thread for more info.

We stayed at CBR last year and it was awful with the construction. Food tent actually closed more than once due to thunderstorms in the area.

We stayed at CBR last August (2017) in the height of constructions. We thought it was great. The tent having a full buffet for a quick service credit was great. The pool was great and so much fun. The regular rooms (not pirate) were big and comfortable enough for 5 grown women. And they have the freestyle machines in one or two buildings per section so I personally found that awesomely convenient, as well as the little markets for snacks and prepackaged food. I would absolutely do CBR over a value.

Wow thanks for y'alls insight. I have decided to go with the preferred room as All star music. The idea of eating out of a tent on vacation was not appealing to me, and I don't feel like listening to loud noises all day.

Not trying to talk you out of All star music as I am sure you will be happy there (you are in Disney after all!) But I just wanted to make sure I cleared up the misconception about the tent and the noise at CBR. The Tent is technically a tent but it is hard sided with a floor and really just feels like a big room. As for the noise, we frankly noticed absolutely none. I'm sure there is some during the height of the day if you are very close to the construction but we had absolutely no issues with it. Anyway, enjoy your trip!

I must be losing my mind. I meant All Star Movies. Apparently Movies will be refurbished by the time we go and if we pick a preferred room we will likely (Hopefully) get a refurbished room. My kids are also young and will love the big icons and screaming Disney theme. For now I have booked All Star Movies Preferred with Dining plan on the Enchanted Escape Offer. Lots of availability still exists at CBR, and I supposed CSR is also an option as it is very competitively priced and is actually coming up less now than CBR. I still havent booked our flights either as they aren't cheap from the island. Checking daily and remaining hopeful for a seat sale. Thanks for your tips!

I think you're making the right choice with AS Movies. One of the vlogs I watched on the DIS' review of CBR was that it's a construction site with hotel rooms. I would not stay there until it has it's food court back and most of that construction is completed. Room refurbishments are not intrusive and most times guests don't even know they are going on. Good luck on the flight tix!!

I voted for CBR. I love CBR and was there in December. The construction did not impact us at all and with having your own rental car I think it is a great option. We asked for a little away from things as we didn't care about the pool and could just drive over there. We ate at the tent one day and found that it was very good and was better then Garden Grill for breakfast. I love the Freestyle soda machines around the resort also. You get a lot of choices instead of the regular plain choices. The construction only impacts you if your going to be at the resort during the day. With having the two kids also you can hopefully get a room with the extra bed in it and they wouldn't need to share. If you go in knowing the construction is there and don't let it bother you then it won't impact your vacation at all.
