Quick history lesson.
I first stayed at CBR back in 1988 or 1989 shortly after it first opened. It was a wonderful experience.
Despite travelling to WDW many times a year since, I didn't have an occasion to stay there again until February of 2001. I called from the car on a Saturday morning and booked a one night stay there.
Our room (in Trinidad South) was a disaster. Torn and stained drapes, badly stained carpet, big chunks of plaster missing from the walls in several spots, bathroom cabinetry barely clinging on, black mold stained tile grout, etc.
I was astonished. In the past 4 years, we've stayed on-site on roughly 30 different occasions spanning around 125 nights. This was the ONLY time I encountered something like this at a WDW resort.
Well, fast forward to this past weekend. Another fairly spur of the moment trip. I decided to give CBR another try. This time we we in Barbados building 16 (room 1623 to be exact.) What a nice location, nice circular sitting area outside the door.
On to the condition of the room. Two words - absolutely fantastic. The carpet simulates the look of palm fronds (not the mustard yellow in the other room) the coral colored paint was fresh, the colorful fish wallpaper border really stood out. The drapes and bed spreads were vibrant. The shower surround was no longer tile, but a carved psuedo-Corian material with birds of paradise. It looks outstanding. Even the tile floor (which is great) in the bathroom looked new.
All in all, WDW did a masterful job with this rehab.
