CBR Propaganda

Two months ago, we were at ASMu. We loved it, we truly did. But we ate dinner at 'Ohana one night, and we walked all around the resort. My mom and I LOVED it. She especially loved the beach. Unfortunately, we can't afford the Polynesian; so I was researching, and I thought CBR might be a good fit for us. We always go during Value Season 2. I'm only fourteen, and my parents aren't huge Disney freaks like me (sadly), so it will take some convincing to go to CBR, let alone WDW. I think I have the WDW portion covered, but how do I convince them to let us stay at CBR? We'll be going in two years. I recently left a picture of Old Port Royale, and one of the beach on the computer open. That did catch their attention. Epcot is our favorite park, so I mentioned how we could be able to see Illuminations and also how we would be so close to it. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you can convince them to go WDW then you're more than halfway there. I'm sure their concern will be $$, so figure out how to save some money in order to spend more on CBR-maybe spend fewer days at WDW in order to afford to stay at the moderate resort? Or you could consider a split stay--5 nights at a value (maybe the new art of Animation) and your last 2 nights at CBR or even the Poly. Write down or type up the info for your parents in an orderly way and share it with them.

This is a great idea! Not only will you help your parents pay for it, which they'll appreciate, but they'll also probably appreciate that you're learning that if you eant somethinh, you'll have to work for it! Most parents love that kind of stuff! And you're showing them it's important to you.

cbr is a great choice! We love it there and have stayed at the poly and yacht club as well, cbr is every bit as beautifull as the others and the plus side is the great food court, food there is very very good with plenty of choices and the pool area is awesome!Also the hot tubs ,which is where you could find me at 6am each morning when we have stayed there! Another plus is all the quiet pools that cbr has so all around you have made a very smart choice in resorts! Never had any issues with bus service nor housekeeping! Good luck ! Hope you do indeed find out for yourselves how much of a great resort cbr is!

We have stayed at CBR twice, and we love it! I wanted to point out that you can't see much of Illuminations from there, though, just the higher fireworks. We are excited to be staying there again next year, and I hope you are able to find a way to make it work for you!

Maggie'sMom: Sadly, my allowance is $10/month, and my parents won't let me babysit. So that isn't an option. I did put a jar in my room that I put all my extra change in it.
nanhol: I told my parents about split stays, but they think that would be too chaotic, so they don't want to do that; but I would be up for it! I think I will type the info up, though.
boundfordisney: My parents love hot tubs, which they missed at ASMu, so I think I'll mention that.

Also, does each village have a bus stop? Or do they only have the lobby bus stop?

Each village has a bus stop. We were in Jamaica. A great location next to quiet pool and a short walk over the bridge to OPR.

Since your family has 2 years to save, I'd look on the wdw web site the January room only discounts and package discounts are out now. It is value season so you'll find similar pricing. Not sure how you family travels, with or without dining plan. But you could price out the vacation, and calculate how much a month the family has to save, and pitch it that way! Like - look all we need to put away each month is $20 for example. Breaking it up into monthly savings rather then a lump sum will make it more doable.

Tell your parents that for a split stay Disney will move your bags for you from one resort to the other. Also, you can plan ahead by packing everything you need for the first resort in one bag and everything you will use at the second resort in another bag instead of each person packing their own separate bag. It really make changing resorts easy!

I have semi-convinced my mom about splitting resorts, but she doesn't want to unpack, then pack, and unpack, and pack. But I'm getting closer!

Hey, if your parents are footing the bills, I would stay WHEREVER they wanted!

CBR IS a great resort and is my favorite moderate. If you don't get there this trip, then you can vow to take the first WDW trip on your own and stay there.

Quick story: When I was 14 I fell in love with paintings I saw at a big horse show by a water color artist. I could not afford one. I vowed when I had my first real job, I would go buy one. Fast forward 10 YEARS, and I did just that!

Quick update! So, I was talking to my mom in the car, and she said that if it were up to here we would at least wait five (but she would prefer ten) years to go back to WDW! But she said maybe to my sweet sixteen there, and she's getting interested in the DDP.

A Disney Sweet 16 would be terrific--my 9 & 10 year old daughters want to do that...but they also want to celebrate their 13th bdays at WDW--separately, of course (they've got it all figured out, except for the $$!)

I think having 2 years to plan and save for your Sweet 16 is perfect. I'm always impressed when my kids show initiative & do research on their own--so definitely start planning different options. Besides, the planning & dreaming is just part of the fun!

risuhill, you're a girl after my own heart. If you are here on the DIS, you are already on the right track. When you have your dates, you will know where to find the discounts. Be savvy, show Mom and Dad how much you can save them. Maybe you will get 25% off or even free dining. It's kind of what I do with my husband. It's an expensive trip and staying on property anywhere is better than not going at all. Keep swinging, you might hit it out of the park. Good luck!

You sound a little like my DD who is now 18. She put together Powerpoint presentations for us on various WDW resorts and the relative costs. She made sure to factor in travel, dining, tickets, and resort costs. It was a good economics project for her and was helpful to us in selecting a resort. I think I see a sweet 16 trip in your future.

well good luck , hope your dream stay at cbr comes true! Perhaps you could have a yard sale or find some odd jobs to do around your neighbour hood, to make some extra cash. Xmas holidays are coming up and Im sure there would be something you could do to turn in a little cash, my grandaughter made some money wrapping presents at the mall and for other friends and family members. So many people hate all the wrapping and it turns out to be a good way to make a little extra cash! You sound like you are a very determind young lady so Im sure you can put a plan into action! But remember anywhere at disney is magical!

I have a DD about your age and I would suggest to you that you offer up Christmas and birthday gift ideas for them. Let them know you'd like this upgrade in lieu of normal gifts. For others, offer up you'd like Disney gift certificates, even in small amounts they will add up.

Been reading through the entire thread. I totally agree with packing suitcases that can easily transfer - one set for the first resort, one set for the second.

I am not a fan of the Caribbean Beach Resort *ducks flames* (I've stayed there twice so it's not like I don't know it - it's just not for me) but if it's something you would like, go for it. But another possibility for a lower cost is to just think about Pop Century or Art of Animation. Same area but lower cost. No beach but two resorts side by side with not as many dollars flying around. Maybe if you presented your parents with a lower option, the discussions could start and then you work your way up.
