Hello,

I booked a pirate room at CBR! We are excited to return to CBR! :goodvibes This year we are staying in a pirate room and requested a room close to the food court! Has anyone stayed in a HC room with the pirate room themeÉ What did you think, thanks in adavnce!:wizard:

We stayed in December 2009. My kiddos loved it and it was really cool. I will say they are only in 2 buildings that are Pirate rooms and I am pretty sure they are actually the farthest away from the food court. I am pretty sure they are in Trinadad North and Trinadad South.

You can probably find a CBR thread on the Resort board to confirm that.

Have a great time!!

Edit (I can't spell)

Yes....these rooms are the furthest away from the food court, but they are really nice!---Kathy

Thanks for the info.! We are looking forward to our stay :goodvibes Hope its not too far from the food court as they love to refill mugs and buy treats! :lmao:

The pirate rooms are in Trinidad South. This is not the village that is closest to the food court, so if you have mobility issues, you may want to request to be in one of the buildings close to the bus stop. (There is an internal bus that takes you to every village, the check-in building, and the food court/restaurant/gift shop/big pool building.) CBR is big, with most rooms requiring a lot of walking to get to the food area. Last time I was there was pre-pirate rooms and I was in a village across the lake from the food building and would have had to walk all the way to the lake (I was in one of the frontmost rooms to be close to the bus stop), across the lake via the boardwalk, and all the way to the food building to get there if I didn't use the bus system (which is what I did).

My next trip I will be at CBR in a pirate room and my friends will be in regular rooms, so they will be in a different village. But, hopefully they will just be in the next village over so that they won't have to walk across the whole place or take a bus (they don't have any mobility issues).

The pirate rooms are in the section of buildings at the CBR on the other side of the bridge - quite a haul to the food court, so definitely try to get a building close to the bus stop!

No, the pirate rooms are on the same side of the lake as the food court is. They are not all that close to the food court building, though, as there is a whole other village in between. Somebody with mobility issues should take the internal bus to get there, but without mobility issues, it is walkable (after all, it is definitely not as much walking as you do in the parks!).

What MB said is correct, he/she didn't mean needing to walk the walkbridge accross the lake, but is talking about having to go UNDER the bridge that crosses the lake that has the driveway on it for the cars and busses. You know the road they use after visiting Trinidad South and heading onto leaving the resort in the route most commonly used for most park busses.

While it might not be the longest distance in miles when comparing to some of the buildings on the "other side" of the road, it certainly will feel like you are pretty isolated when staying at Trinidad South. Just having to constantly cross that road somehow comes with that feeling. Like each village at CBR, Trinidad South has it's pros and cons. Because of it's location it always has been a very peacefull surrounding (seemed to chance quite a bit when the pirate rooms first were added, haven't been there enough since that so not sure what the effects are now) which can be a huge draw for many. Same thing with the theming. But facts are they added the pirate themed rooms so more people would actually WANT to stay at Trinidad South. Before that it was the most commonly heard sentiment; "please not let it be TS where our room is located". Heck, I'm e very laid back person when it comes to room locations at resorts but even I would dread staying at TS and am a huge fan of CBR.

IMHO that greatly depends on what the specific issues of an individual are and what type of aids they are using. Anybody that is using an motorized aid will find it is SO much quicker and more convenient to simply drive up to Old Port Royal instead of waiting for the internal shuttle. And while the walk under the bridge takes away from it's beauty, CBR is a lovely resort and the walk along the Trinidad North beach is just a lovely scenario, esp. in the early morning or around sunset.

Many that are using a manual chair in daily life and are used to covering standard distances might find the same, even more so when combining a dash to OPR with going to the parks or coming back home. For those not used to using their own strength in operating an aid (manual chair, rollator, crutches, whatever), it will be quite a hike. For them it will all depend on how much energy that uses, what the plans are for the rest of the day, what they've done until then and their caracter. For some the internal shuttle will be the way to go, for others it wont be.

Thanks for clarifying - yes, i meant you need to go under the bridge to get to Trinidad South. The bridge is the access road for the buses to exit the resort. Trinidad South is on the same side as the food court, but a LONG walk away. Long enough that when we stayed in that section, we felt like it was a hassle to refill our mugs in the AM before heading out. Sorry I wasn't more clear!

My dgs LOVED the pirate rooms although no one in their family has mobility challenges. If I'd have stayed with them I'd have used my power chair to get around. IMO it's such a hassle to wait for a bus, have my chair tied down and then later, untied, that I avoid that scenario at all costs! TS is a gorgeous area though and being on the same side of the lake as the food court helps. Now we want to try out the princess rooms!

Ah, gotcha! I thought he meant the walking bridge and was saying the pirate rooms were on the opposite side of the lake from the food court building.

Yup, I know. But their ploy did work, as I do want to try those rooms for a stay (and will do so my next trip)! ;) I can never get a clear answer as to whether or not Johnny Depp comes with the rooms, though! :rotfl:

True, but I meant those with mobility issues who walk, not those in electric wheelchairs or ECVs. Sorry for the confusion! Those in manual chairs might find the bus helpful after a long day in the parks. Those who walk with mobility issues should use the bus. Those without mobility issues may also want to use the bus after a long day in the parks! :)

We stayed there last year and the walk was 5-7 minutes and not bad at all. I have RA and even when stiff and in pain I made the walk with no issues. It's not close enough to run down and fill up mugs or anything though. Unfortunately those rooms are the far away from the main area of the resort.

The walk isn't worth the Theaming at all. We loved it for the first two days and after that the 10 minute walk to the food court got very old! Never again!

We looked into the Pirate rooms a few years ago when they opened and we were told they didnt have any HA Pirate themed rooms.. We needed a roll in shower.. though so maybe that was the issue. Good luck with your stay!!!!!!!!!

Did you go into it knowing you were not close to the food court? Or did you not realize it wasn't very close? (And ten minutes is not that bad, really. Except for the purpose of filling up mugs - then it just isn't convenient, a ten-minute walk for a ten-second activity.)

When I stayed at CBR before (on the other side of the lake from the food court), I knew it was quite a distance to the food court, so had no issues with that and knew I wouldn't mind staying there again the next time I was to pick a moderate (instead of a deluxe). (I used the internal bus to get to the food court when we went there.) This time I am going for the pirate theming and know the rooms aren't close to the food court, but am okay with it.

I don't do the refillable mug thing, though. I just wouldn't recommend the mugs for anybody who is far from the mug station at any of the resorts.

Hopefully that has changed by now!
