CBR or WL

On these boards, there are a few of us who LOVE the CBR, as I do. Because it was the first Disney resort I ever stayed at, it holds a special place in my heart.

However, I visited the WL last month and thought it was magnificent. The pool is GORGEOUS and the resort is beautifully landscaped.

On the other hand, CBR has been recently refurbished, and they just finished a complete re-model of Old Port Royale.

Wow, you've got a tough decision ahead of you! I guess I'd ultimately have to pick the WL just for the beauty of the resort. You're gonna spend alot more $$ to stay there, but I know you won't be disappointed :p

I adore the CBR, and I have stayed there two times. However, I too share your delima. I have always stayed a the WL, and have the opportunity to do so, but I love CBR. It is beautiful with it's colorful building and wonderful surroundings. WL, however is just as beautiful. You like me need to decided what kind of money are you willing to put into the vacation. WL is expensive as well it should be being a deluxe. The rooms at WL and DBR are the same size. Funny huh!!! However WL has queen beds in the room (or bunk beds) and CBR has doubles. I also note that many on the boards think that it is important to enter on an interior hallway instead of an exterior hallway like at CBR. What is going to come down to is your preference. I know because these are the question I keep asking myself! Everytime I settle on WL, I go hmmm but the money and then but the WL is so beautiful!! It's a tough decision, but I don't think that you could go wrong with anything that you choose.

WL. Boat access to MK and Fort Wilderness. Walking trails to Fort Wilderness. Bigger lake to explore by boat. Ease of some resort hopping. Bunk beds (comes in handy when you have a boy and a girl). Balconey. Absolutely gorgeous lobby. Now if the WL would just have a food court like the moderates do, it would be absolutely perfect.

Only because that was the resort we were "bumped" from during their recent food court/restaurant renovation. (We REALLY had our hearts set on the CBR)....

Was relocated to the AKL and also stayed at the WL....

Was not too impressed with the WL...because the AKL was so incredibly AWESOME

:bounce:

Please understand that this is one family's opinion only::: if you had to choose between the CBR and the AKL....that would be a much more difficult decision...in "our" opinion:cool:

We've done both places several times. The CBR was our first "real" WDW vacation and we still love it. The food court is nice, but remember the size of the resort- if you're on the far side of the lake you have a long walk or a bus ride to get there. As far as location, you're on a bus no matter where you want to go, and again, with the size of the resort I watched many buses go by with absolutely no room for us.

WL has become one of our favorites. No, there's no food court, but there are 2 restaurants and the Roaring Forks snack bar. We enjoy resort-hopping for meals, so it was never a problem. The pool area is awesome (another overused word, but it aplies here), the geyser is unique, the laser show every night on the lake is great, and on two of our visits there we could lay across the bed in our room and watch the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. The laundry room is inside, and you're a boat ride away from the MK. That's both good and bad, since it's the ONLY way to get to the MK, and sometimes that wait seems awfully long.

We joined the DVC a few years ago, and our home resort is the Boardwalk Villas, but last Christmas we made our reservations to include the first night at the WL Villas, just because we like it there so much.

Pricier, but worth it!

We've done both, and I far preferred CBR! It has that tropical feel, nice light colors, beautiful beaches, and the rooms are just as big as those in the WL, but because of furniture size and color of the rooms, those at CBR seem much bigger. I was very disappointed with the rooms and decor at the WL. I guess I am not into dark masculine motifs.

Also, the scent in the lobby at the WL (a mixture of the smokehouse and pine) bothered my sinuses. I did like the archetecture of the lobby, and the pool, though!

Also, we found the transporation from the WL to be poor.

For my money, the CBR was a more enjoyable place to stay.
