My husband and I are taking a 5 day trip in March to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and are very torn-we spent our honeymoon in Jamaica and CBR sounds like a lovely reminder. But POR sounds so romantic too! I'm just a little concerned that it is the next resort slated for rehab. For those who have been to both, which would you choose (or should we split the trip between the two)?? Thanks!
PS We are both in our 40s if that makes a difference!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

My family has been to both. We love both. That being said, We prefer POR. My parents usually go with us (they are in their 60s), DH and myself are in our late 20s and early 30s (I'm in my late 20s;) , and we have 2 DS 10yrs and 16 months. POR is just more laid back. The resort is beautiful and so relaxing. We love the rooms and the restaurant, Boatwrights, is just to die for. POR is just so peaceful and romantic!

Well I have always said if it isn't broke then don't fix it but...........when staying at any Disney resort that rule tends to be broken.......As far as I know POR is not slated to be shut dont just yet but from what I have heard in some of the posts from there that the trucks are starting to hover around a little bit. i was planning on staying there as well but have decided to go with 2 nights at WL followed by 5 at POP. We stayed at CBR last May and loved it but this year we wanna try something new......

Both resorts are nice and it is a hard decision as both have a different feel. I haven't been to CBR in a while but I was just at POR this past Nov. I stayed in the Mansions section and didn't have a problem with my room or experienced anything at the resort that needed to be upgraded immediately. Also rumor is that PORS won't begin their rehab until POFQ has reopened which is supposedly slated for sometime between spring and summer. PO is a great resort with plenty of walking space, nice island pool area, beautifully manicured grounds and a laid back feel.

CBR does have that Carribean feel and is a very large beautiful resort with beautiful grounds and a neat pool fort. There is also a nice beach where you can watch the Illuminations fireworks at night.

It is a hard decision and really up to what the two of you want to experience. Just remember, whichever hotel you don't choose, you stay at the next time you go. Either way, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've been to both, I'm in my 40's, I prefer POR. I do think it is more romantic too. Gorgeous landscaping and beautiful bridges to cross and pathways to walk. Plus, you can take a boat to DTD. I think they also offer carriage rides now too. POR would definately be my choice.

I too am thinking about POR for our December stay. My question is, if I book POR and they do close it for rehab, what will they offer us (in all likelihood) I think the only other Mod that I really want to stay at is POFQ and I think that when it reopens, it is gonna be booked solid. Anybody out there that can read the future? BTW if you can, we are getting our lottery here starting Monday, so let me know how much I will win. LOL LOL

Stayed at both and we did not care for CBR we love POR. Just a beautiful resort and the foodcourt, Boatwrights and lounge are some of the best.

I would not worry about rehab too soon in the near future as they will not shut POR down while POFQ is also down. They share the same roads and service building so that is why some have seen the trucks around. Plus within the last year POR rehabed select buildings at their resort.

We stayed at CBR and POR and I would pick POR. You can walk to the food court, it isn't as spread out as much as CBR. I thought the grounds and landscaping were wonderful at POR. We really liked the boatride to DTD, and they have carriage rides for a fun thing to do.

You can'y go wrong with POR. It's a laid back southern style place. It's the type of place that makes you want to sip Mint Julips on the balconies!!! You will love it, the gorunds are award winning. The main pool on Ol' Man Island is pretty cool along with Muddy Rivers the pool bar. There are also quite pools if you're not into all the kids running and sliding into the main pool.

The grounds are fantastic to walk at night after a long busseling day in the parks. Most rooms/buildings are convienant to the bus stops (4) and a short walk to the main building that houses the food court & Boatwright's (great Prime Rib....Can't wait to dig in).

My DW and I always take one day "off" just to kick around the resort. Lounge by the pool while doing laundry (keeps the packing down).

If we didn't buy into SSR, we wouldn't stay anywhere else, and yes, we are going back one last time!!!

Thanks for all the great replies! We've decided on POR, although we will probably go over to CBR and at least take a look around! We're hoping our next visit won't be peak season and we can try the Poly!!:smooth:
