Why CBR over POR or POR over CBR? And how convenient is the boat for transportation vs. the bus? Looking at staying there at Christmas.

CBR is a wonderful clean resort, and the rooms have been refurbished recently. I have never been to POR, but I know it is a favorite among many. As for the boats and Buses, well that all depends on where you are going. Not all resorts have boats. The boat ride from Epcot to Hollywood Studios is fun you can take in all the Disney Sights check out the board walk and neighboring resorts, while relaxing. I'd say, try both experiences just for the fun of it and also don't forget to take a run on the monorail if you've never been. Have a fun and Magical trip!!

CBR pros: zero entry pool with splash pad for kids, numerous leisure pools, rehabbed rooms with new mattresses

POR pros: fewer bus stops, DTD boat, proximity to FQ for more pools and another QS food option

The boat at POR is only to DTD and it is convenient.
When the kids were young like 8 and under we went twice to CBR. But now they are teens and we all prefer POR, also went twice. Just a different vibe. CBR, sunny and beachy. POR, has more shade, laid back, just REALLY love POR.

We've never stayed at POR, but we loved everything about CBR. The grounds were beautiful, the food court was great, the pool was nice with a fun pirate theme for kids (there's also a quiet pool for each "village"), and the buses were quick and efficient. We found the buses to be great as it only took maybe 10 minutes to get to any theme park, water park, or DTD. We have tried other resorts since our CBR stay, but we wouldn't hesitate to go back to CBR.

We've stayed in both, but personally like the pool area and quiet pools at CBR better. That's what's important to us. We did enjoy the boat at POR to DTD and probably went there more because of the easy boat ride. We stayed in Aruba at CBR, so it was an easy walk across the bridge to the food court, Shutters, and the pool. Also bus stop for Aruba was very close by. I think it depends on what is important to you... I'm sure you won't be disappointed either way!

Tough choice! We LOVE both! A lot! I love the tropical feel to CBR. I love the beautiful lush grounds at POR as well as the boat to DTD. They're both very lovely! You cant go wrong with either one.

As for buses, sure CBR may have an extra stops, but we've never had to wait very long.

Does POR still share buses with POFQ?

We have been to both and prefer CBR, although both are very nice. We found the bus service to CBR much better than that of POR as well, but could have just been the weeks we were there.

Stayed at both, I'd do CBR over POR. POR was lovely, but the beach and hammocks etc at CBR just make it for a lazy afternoon with some rum :D

Malibu Rum and pineapple juice by the main pool. Had a great time on one of our relaxing days.

With that said, we prefer CBR, but have heard good things about POR, just not willing to go anywhere else now.

POR over CBR let me count the ways...
1) transportation (buses) - we experienced the worse travel times at CBR this year. Never had a problem with either POR or POFQ.
2) theme - Antebellum south mansions- nothing else to say there :)
3) relaxed and genteel
4) mint julep

POR. For me, it isn't even a close call. 4 bus stops compared to 7. A much better food court. A nicer gift shop. And a boat to Downtown Disney instead of a bus. Yeehaw Bob. And did I say 4 bus stops, not 7? :ssst:

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I asked I didn't realize the boat only went to DTD. I think I will just go with the cheapest, we are only going to be there 3 days and at the resort long enough to sleep.
