I am curious if someone here can help me...

I've read the 32 page thread on CBR, and I thank everyone who commented on it- it was one of the things that pushed me over the edge to this resort...now for my questions..

1. I have read the fridge's in room are very small, and that coolers are recommend...this is all good, but can you rent a bigger fridge?

2. Is there a safe in the room? Approximate size of it? (no, not bringing loads of valuables)...however would like to put the 2 laptops in it during the day...

3. Now that the 2 preferred islands (is that what they are called?) are going to cost more, what would be the next best? The quote I have received for 6 nights combining AAA room only, and a VISA kids deal, I don't want to "ruin" the savings by having to pay extra for a certain area. Is Aruba a good choice? Of course, I know they do not guarantee the location...

4. If I do NOT request anything...We will be driving from Brunswick, GA the morning of arrival, I am thinking it's going to take us about 4-5 hours to get to the resort, this would put us about 1230-100pm, would we be stuck in SOUTH TRINIDAD?? (please no!)....I know check-in is not until 3pm, I am not expecting to be able to check in prior..just curious is all.

5. Has anyone ever seen anyone checking chemicals of the pools? Sorry for this one, but I'm a Nationally Certified Aquatics Facility Operator, and am a bit anal when it comes to public water my kids swim in...

Okay- thats it, once again I thank everyone for taking the time to answer my questions...hopefully by the end of the week, the vacation will be booked.

1. Disney only offers one size fridge, and it's the small square kind.

2. Yes there is a safe in the room. I'm not sure of the exact size.

3. When we stayed at CBR we didn't have to pay extra based on which building we were in, but maybe that has changed. We were in Martinique and loved the location. I know they do charge more for a water view.

4. If you fax in your room requests about 2-3 days prior to arrival you'll usually get what you want.... but of course it's not guaranteed. You can always refuse Trinidad South and just check-in later.

5. Yes, I have frequently seen people doing all types of pool maintenance and cleaning at all WDW resorts. The pools are very clean.

I just got back from 2 nights there so maybe I can answer a few of your questions
1. There is no refrig in the room. Not even a minibar one. You can rent one, but I always just bring a small cooler and it works for me. I did rent one several years ago and it was the small dorm size type refrig.Noi

2. a PDA might fit in the safe, but no way on a laptop. It is probably 3" deep and 6x8 or 8x 10. My wallet and some papers fit in in, my purse did not and I have a small purse. Don't think floor safe, think wall cubby hole safe.

3. I like jamaica best aruba second. Jamaica is the 1st busstop on the way to MK-important if you like to have a seat early in the morning and the 1st dropoff spot on the ride back0gets you to your room quicker at night when you are tired. It also has one of the playgrounds there. It is a short scenic walk to port royal and you don't have to pay extra. S trinadad is good for peace and quiet and privacy so some people really like that one also

4. I recently checked in at 1pm and got my room. They already had me in Jamaica which is what I requested. when I went up to the window, I asked if I could get jamaica and she said no problem, then said, well looks like we already have yout there so I would request something, but not worry if you don't.

5. SOrry never saw anyone, but the water in the quiet pool was very clean even though it was windy( no leaves etc.
Hope this helps:D

I have seen them checking the pools many times. I have noticed because I do that here at home.

Yes they do have preferred buildings starting in Jan. I would recommend Jamaica or Aruba as alternates. If you get there and they have you assigned to Trinidad South just ask if they can move you somewhere else. The CM's are always very eager to please and will try to get your requests. Sometimes they go above what you expected.

You will love the resort.

Thank you!!!!

I'm thinking of requesting Aruba, and see what happens...we are not worried about buses, as we will have our truck, and prefer to drive to and from parks etc..

Looks like I'll have to come up with another plan for the laptops...I really dont want to leave them in the room....

Thanks again

I travel all the time and I have a kensington lock/cable that I thread through the furniture and attach. You can be sure that someone won't walk off with the laptop that way.

Safetymom- how does this laptop lock thing work? Does it wrap around the laptop? Little bit foggy to me...maybe I'll go do a search for one... both DH and I will have our laptops, mainly for the DD's to use with DVDs during our drive down...and then to upload pictures off the memory sticks at night.

thanks again

There is a slot somewhere on the side of your laptop. The lock fits in there after you thread the cable through the loop and around something that they can't slip the cable off.

The cables run about $30-40. A computer store will have them. If you don't know where the slot is on your computer the store should be able to show you or it's in your owners manual.

I do this all the time when I use my laptop at trade show demos. Many many people use them.

Excellent- I found them online- then found the slot on this laptop...now to check DH's laptop to see if he has one too...whoohoo this is why I love THE DIS!!

You guys are great

Brandy,

You have been busy! Wow! Look at all those posts already. hard to believe how far you have come since we first started corresponding on these boards.

I am glad Safetymom had a answer to your question on the laptops. I knew they wouldn't fit in the safe. I don't think it would walk off; but always good to have a saftey measure in place.

The quiet pools are very clean and much less crowded most of the time. We never saw more than maybe a dozen people or less at any given time. And I have seen them out there cleaning them!

We loved Aruba as I toold you earlier. If we get Jamaica I will let you know when we return how we liked it. Bus stop for either one is a good choice.

If the room isn't ready yet you can still get your room key/passes for the parks. Although, looking around the resort and grabbing a bite to eat at POR is always a good. Helps you to get familar with the layout of the resort. Also be sure to go to the shop there. I spend too much time in there and money, too.

Hey Jodi- I was waiting for you to find this post!!!

I tell ya, I've been zoomin all over these boards...reading as much as I can along with the books I have ....holy moly!....I still can't believe how much info is here, right at my fingertips...everyone at DIS has been more than helpful, and I hope to be able to return the favor...

I'm really more concerned about my laptop, as it's my work computer...DH's is also his, however he owns his company, so no boss to come down on him for taking it on vacation and then having it "walk"...uugghh

I think Aruba will work...it sounds like the perfect place, not too close, not too far from all the action..of course, I'll have my coffee in the room, so the DD's are safe until we make it to the food court!...

Thanks again guys!
