I saw on another posting that they liked it b/c you could walk to MGM and Epcot... how far of a walk?

You can not walk from CBR to Epcot or MGM, the only way to get to those parks from there is by the Disney Transport Bus.

Maybe you are thinking of Beach Club. I believe you can walk from BC, but I am not positive.

That's gotta be Beach Club. It's located between MGM and Epcot, along with the Yacht Club and the Boardwalk and the Swan and Dolphin hotels. Along with the walking paths, there is also a boat that runs between Epcot and MGM, stopping at S/D, Boardwalk and YC/BC.

You can't walk between any of the moderates or values and any of the parks. Even if it would be feasible in terms of distance, there are no sidewalks along the roads.

No I know the BC is walking, I have stayed there... someone posted on CBR... unless that was a typo...

I was shcoked that it would be, if I remembered correctly where it falls on the map it didn't seem possible!

I didn't think you could... I have stayed in the Epcot resort area many times before (BC, SWAN, Dolphin) but never had stayed at CBR... and a Disney Vet was saying one of the perks of Carribean Beach was walking to Disney Studios (I assumed MGM) and Epcot... so that made me think, maybe there was something I was missing!

CBR isn't that far from Disney Studios, but there aren't any sidewalks to make the walk safely from the resort to the theme park. It's possible, but it's not safe.

There's no "path" to walk BUT if you walk out the main entrance then cross the street ( Look both ways ) then walk down the enbankment on the overpass it will lead you down to the path between Boardwalk and MGM ( about the halfway point ).

When I stayed at CB I did walk over to the back of EpCot world showcase

There is no walkway from CBR to any park! You could walk along the street but that just isn't advisable. I know that when I'm at POP, if you are on the top floor, you can see the roofs of CBR between you and Epcot. But, there are no sidewalks between CBR and the parks. It just isn't safe. That's why it's a moderate resort..it does not have direct access to a park. No moderate or value resort does. That's why WL and AKL are cheaper than the other deluxe resorts...no park access.
Please do not try to walk..take the bus.

Barb..if you walked through the Intl Gateway, you had to have come in from BW or YC/BC..how did you access those resorts from CBR? Just curious.

I read a while back that parts of CBR (Aruba I think) is directly behind a couple of countries in the WS, but the big highway and probably a fence is between them. I think someone said they actually crossed the highway and got through the fence somehow.

I would have loved to try it on my last trip (anything not to go on the crowded bus), but I would have completely gotten lost. I got lost in one part of CBR's parking lot!

You might be able to see on Google earth if there are any walkways or sidewalks between CBR and the back of WS.

Yeah, CBR is very close to Epcot and when you are standing on the bride that connects Old Port Royale to Aruba, you can hear the Illuminations music since you are that close.

No idea how anyone would walk to Epcot from there. They have purposely made it pretty much impossible to do so.

Not to change the subject, but I got lost EVERY DAY of our stay at CBR. I once got lost between the laundry room and our room. Something about that resort definitely challenged me geographically. It was so pathetic. Or should I say, I was so pathetic?

Have you thought about bringing some bread crumbs with you on your next stay there? ;)

I think they need better signs. I got lost because it said bus stop ->, but they didn't explain exactly where. It wasn't my village and I just couldn't find it. I finally asked someone who came along in a little cart. :lmao: They need a nice map in each village with a picture and a "you are here" arrow like at the malls.

Perhaps it was me, and perhaps you read it too quickly to get the joke. A few times, when this subject comes up, I've posted something like this ....

Start at Aruba building 56. Walk across the parking and the grass, then cross Buena Vista Drive. Go across the grass and the marsh, and if you make it through the minefield and past the snipers you'll come to a fence. Climb the electrified fence, then scale the wall, and you'll find yourself backstage in World Showcase between Germany and Italy.

Nope, never done it. :happytv:

I've written that in the past to illustrate just how close CBR is to Epcot. But the bus ride isn't as short as the ride to MGM, because for Epcot the bus has to go all the way around to the front of the park.

In all seriousness, the WDW roadways weren't built with pedestrians in mind. It might be as dangerous to walk there as it would be to chance it with the landmines and snipers.
