I know this might be an odd question but did the Towers take away the ambiance of the resorts? I have stayed at CSR before the renovations and liked it ok. Never stayed at CBR but wasn’t sure if it is worth it. We won’t use the Skyliner. We have stayed at both POR and liked them. Any thoughts? My husband wanted somewhere different and the moderates fit our budget. It’s jut two adults no children.

We really like POFQ much more so than POR. It's smaller than POR and we like the look/feel better. We also like the Fort Wilderness Cabins, which I think are considered "moderate".

The tower that was just built near CBR isn’t part of that resort. It’s DVC’s Riviera Resort.

The Gran Destino Tower is part of Coronado Springs.

Can you notice it walking around? I guess what I am asking is it in your face kind of thing or not very obvious? Hope that make sense 😄

I haven't stayed at CBR or CSR since the additions, so I can't answer your questions about ambience. However, I have wondered the same - especially about CSR where the GDT is a part of the resort. I will say that it looks good to me from what I have seen online, so I am hoping that the ambience has remained as good as it has always been. With the Riviera a separate resort from CBR, I wouldn't expect a big impact there.

You will see notice the GDT walking around the resort, IMO. If you only liked CSR OK before, perhaps you will like it better now. The lake is changed as well with bridges and a restaurant over it. The CSR is definitely different - just not sure how much of an impact the change has made to the feel of the resort. we are planning to stay there in Jan 2020. I wouldn't avoid the resorts because of the changes - at least not until I had checked them out. Reports are good about GDT, so I am hoping for a positive result.

Hopefully some that have stayed at CSR recently will share their experiences.

In October I was at both resorts. Stayed at CSR and had lunch at CBR, my family's favorite resort when our sons were young.

In my opinion, the new hotel at CBR looks totally out of place and completely ruins the Caribbean feel of the resort. I'm hoping I'll have luck posting a photo I took, otherwise you'll have to trust me. So it looks like the photo will appear, not sure why it's sideways. Imagine walking around a quaint village and coming upon this huge, out of place eyesore.

I'd never been to CSR before so can't compare, but I thought the new hotel was slightly less obtrusive than the one at CBR.

Why would you not use the skyliner? This is the best transportation at WDW, hands down. Nothing else is close.

I’ve heard that from other posts too. Makes me so sad. I’d cry if they did that to POR. It totally ruins the ambiance of the resort. I think CSR will be much the same thing.

I’ve stayed at CSR pre-tower and have visited and walked around the grounds since the Gran Destino opened. I don’t think the tower detracts from the rest of the resort.

We’ve never stayed at CSR before this year when we stayed at the new GDT. The GDT is beautiful!!! Very luxe! I did walk around the grounds, thru all the different areas, and you really don’t notice the tower from all the different areas. If you prefer the more intimate older sections I don’t think the tower will bother you. But the GDT really is amazing:)

Well, yeah. It replaced some of the Cabanas, and it's where guests check in now for the whole of CSR, I think.

We've stayed at CSR since Gran Destino tower has gone up. Sure, its noticeable, but I think it fits in fine with the resort. We stayed in a preferred room in one of the Casitas buildings and never even needed to walk past the tower.

I've not stayed at CBR since Riviera has gone up, but we rode the Skyliner a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem intrusive from what we saw, but I did read a recent review where the poster staying at CBR felt that the theme of Riviera clashed with CBR, which detracted from the feeling of the CBR theme. They are two distinctly different themes, but I think you could request a room away from Riviera if its that big of a concern.

Not to beat a dead horse (review: I think CBR lost a lot of its charm with the new hotel) but here's my analogy. Bring to mind the Seven Seas Lagoon, either from MK or riding the monorail. Beautiful and serene, right? Now replace the Grand Floridian with the Riviera Resort (my sideways photo from above). Kinda takes away some of the charm of the scene.

No, not at all. This is 100% subjective. I was just in tokyo and I think tokyo is beautiful. I'm from Vancouver, I like the look of a nicely done tower, and those are nicely done.

On a related note, I think the GF is literally the most over rated resort, on the planet. Not the worst, the most over rated. This is 100% subjective.

I do think it's completely overblown to say a resort is ruined, or something to that effect, because of an extra tower.

You think the GF has charm, what about the contemporary? Any charm that thing has is nostalgic.

People don't like new things. The towers don't ruin anything.

GDT has some great amenities available to everyone at CSR. It's also gorgeous.

I think complaining about Riviera - a whole separate resort - ruining CBR is a little like complaining that you can see VGF from Poly. You're in what amounts to a metro area. Neighborhoods will abut.

I'm not sure I follow this analogy. Are you saying Riviera is an eyesore? Its subjective, but I wouldn't call it an ugly resort by any means. Poly, GF, and CR in no way correlate in theme as it is, so I'm not sure what the difference would be if you replaced one with Riviera. The crux of people's issue with Riviera is that it represents "the grandeur of Europe" while sharing land with the beachy and tropical Caribbean Beach Resort.

I think they're saying it's an eyesore, which I too really have to disagree with. The contemporary in particular is a behemoth concrete structure on an otherwise flat area.

If you're looking for the beauty of nature, in general disney isn't it. The Canadian Rockies, Banff, Jasper, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, I could go on. Those places a particular building may seem out of place, but not at walt disney world.

CSR and CBR are not exactly shining examples of arcitectual excellence themselves. I LOVE cbr. I will be the first to tell you that the buildings themselves are basically cookie cutter motels.
