I read recently in a book, the Unnofficial Guide to WDW, that CBR was maginally better than a Howard Johnson Motel, surely they've just got sour grapes and biased cause they don't own WDW !! or are they right?

Its my first time at a WDW hotel, I always went for the cheap outside motels, but this time gone all out and spent a fortune and now I am a little worried.... I am due there in only 6 weeks and have been waiting 14 months to go !

mant thanks to all who respond

Hi Kevin,

Welcome to the Dis!:) CBR is very lovely and nothing like a Howard Johnson's! Can you have a lovely sit down meal at a hojo? Can you play like pirate on a cool themed water slide? At a hojo do you feel like you are on a tropical island? How many pools can you find at a hojo? Do you like to walk in beautiful settings? CBR is an awesome resort. You have done fantastic. The only thing that may make you disappointed is if you hate walking because this resort is huge. No worries though...they have their own bus system to get you around. The easiest and smartest thing to do would be check out the buildings on the wdwig.com and make sure you request one close to what you like to spend time doing...Old Port Royale is the center of the resort activities, but if you would rather a quiet pool there are many of those too. CBR was our first moderate resort. We enjoyed it a lot.
Have fun!

No worries! CBR is nothing like a HJo! The landscaping is fabulous. The food court is like walking down a street in a Carribean town. Plus you're on Disney property so you get all the perks - like transportation and early entry. There is a temp tatoo and hair wrap station next to the pool. The Banana Cabana pool bar has nice tables with umbrellas set up near the pool too. The Parrot Cay island is a mini tropical hideaway with benches and beaches to explore. Just the theming of the room sets it apart from standard hotel chains! ;)

After you stay at CBR, everything ELSE will feel like a HoJo!
We just spent a week at CBR, and then stayed at a Holiday Inn in Destin on the way home. BLECH! And this was supposedly one of the nicer Holiday Inns; it just didn't compare to Disney. The room was smaller, had kind of a stale smell, the toilet kept backing up, and the hotel employees were so rude. And for this, we paid $140 compared to the $94 at CBR.
You will love CBR. Nothing to worry about!

The Unofficial Guide scared me too, but I'm sooo glad I stuck with my decision and stayed at CBR in Feb. It was wonderful! Never regretted it for a minute. Rooms were great, pools everywhere, your own beach to relax on, huge food court, and simply gorgeous.

Don't let the UG bother you.

Erin
