Cautious child and FP+

I need to schedule FP+ soon, and I'm not sure which ones to pick. DD14 and DH want to do all of the thrill rides, but DD9 is rather cautious and I'm trying to decide which rides to skip for her. Last time we were at Disney she was 6, and I'm assuming she will be more daring this time but I'm not sure how much more daring. I would just wait until we get there and let her decide, but we really can't do that when we need to reserve FP+ in advance!

Last time she liked barnstormer a lot and found Splash Mountain a bit too wet. Test Track and Soarin' were fine. No way was she going into the TOT or Haunted Mansion, and we didn't even ask about any of the bigger coasters. This time I'm planning to get fast passes to see if she try Big Thunder Mountain and HM. We'll skip Space Mountain and TOT. What do you think about Star Tours and Expedition Everest? Any others I should be concerned about?

Thanks!

It depends on the kid. My youngest will do Star Tours all day long because it's enclosed, but won't do Big Thunder, Splash, and even the drop in Pirates makes him hesitant :confused3

On the flip side I've seen many young ones go on Everest with no problem. My advice is to youtube the rides with her and gauge her reaction, but you should definitely be fine with Star Tours. Tower of Terror is actually not as bad as the coasters, but the ride atmosphere is more terrifying if that makes sense.

Space isn't a bad ride, but it's dark. So if the dark bothers her it's a no go.

Haunted Mansion really is not that scary at all once you get past the stretching room. The ride itself is a very non-scary ride. One of my kids has always loved it and the other finally started enjoying it when we started telling him the ghosts were trying to scare him as a joke and it was all for fun. Crazy kids.

My DD will be 6 on this trip. There are rides that she wouldn't do or didn't like last time. I simply asked her about each one before I made FP selections. I showed her YouTube videos and talked about the ride. She decided no on ToT and HM but on many of the others she said she would try them. If when we are there she decides not to ride them, DS will use her band and get to ride twice!

We went to Disneyland when my timid dd was 6, she would do no coasters, cried on the Gadget coaster (similar to the Barnstormer). We just got back from Disneyworld and she is now 9, she tried everything except Rockin RollarCoaster, she loved Big Thunder and did it twice, loved soarin and test track, star tours, haunted mansion. She rode but didn't like Space Mountain (she said it would have been better if she could have been beside an adult) She also hated Tower of Terror and didn't like Expedition Everest (although that was the last one so she was already thinking she wouldn't like it before starting, so I think it might have been better if we had of done it before being scared by the other ones).

I wouldn't be too worried about booking FP for her way far in advance. I'm going to WDW this weekend, and everything (except for the Frozen girls of course) has plenty of availability. Not every single slot is open, but there is enough overlap in most of them that I could FP Space Mountain (for example) at any time of the day on Thursday.

How long do you have before your trip?
