Anyone ride up front in the monorail with the driver?

We did it this past week and the grumpy old guy driving made us feel terrible for even asking.

My son (12) noted the driver was 'rude' when we disembarked.

This guy needs to find another line of work - in a hole somewhere far from civilization.

What could have been special was very very uncomfortable because of this mean old man.

I'm probably going to write Disney and complain. They need to bathe him in pixie dust - or just toss him in the lagoon.

You seem to be in a really bad mood today with all your magic-squashing posts today. :confused3

We had a rude driver last week too. We had been in front many times but this was a first for my little cousin and he was really excited. When they (my dd and dc), walked in my dc said go on Jenna, and the driver said, "I decided when you go in and when you don't". The rest of the time he looked mad and really did'nt want to answer any questions. Then when departed the kids asked if they could get one of those monorails ticket things since they did see them up there and he said he did'nt have any? I was put off big time. BTW he looked to be in his mid 50's and he had dark hair, just in case this is the same person.

Our driver had white hair. Apparently these (two?) guys just don't like riders up front with them.

I wonder if others have the same or better experiences.

We've had both type of drivers. You can usually tell right away if they're interested in talking with you or whether they're just annoyed that they have people in the compartment with them. I understand that they need to pay attention to their job, as it is a big responsibility, but I have found that some drivers are just sour. Then again we've had some great drivers who made it a very memorable experience.:)

And maybe the party that rode up front just before yours is what put your driver in his 'mood'.

Its sad. When I was a kid, riding in front of the monorail was one of the best kept secerts. I guess maybe all of the arguing some guests do to get the chance to ride up front has gotten to them. Now I dont mean the guests who ask nicely and are kind like your family, but how many posts and youtube videos have we seen where people are fighting over the spot. I hope maybe these 2 drivers where just having an off day. Im sorry it ruined it for your family.

Luckily our two experiences have been good. One time we had an older grey haired man who was from our area and talked the whole time about moving to Florida and how much he loved it.

The second guy was 40ish dark haired guy who had an indepth conversation with my husband about how the monorail rain and how much electric it used and costs of running it. It was very interesting.

I hope I never get Mr. Nasty. Sorry that happened to your family.

We rode in the front in February and had a great driver. Youngish - maybe in his twenties or thirties. He was wearing a Birthday Button and we wished him a happy birthday. He was planning to celebrate by going to the Pirate and Princess Party at the MK that night (which is where we were headed when we decided to take a ride on the monorail just for the heck of it because DD's friend had never ridden). We all (even the adults) got the monorail driver licenses.

How many people can ride up front? We are taking our nephew for his high school graduation and I think he would get a kick out of this.

We had one of "those" drivers when we rode a couple years ago. He never spoke a word to us, except to reluctantly answer a question DH asked along the way. No hello, goodbye, nothing ... just flat out ignored our being there.

We have been lucky enough to ride in the monorail 4 times up dfront. The drivers have never spoken to us- i honestly thought they weren't allowed to!
