... my two cats start off grooming each other so nicely then turn it into a battle?

... if my cats catch me watching as they play/battle/fight, they immediately stop? It's not like I'm going to yell at them!

Why is it that if I have company I'd like to impress more than offend, my cats sit in the middle of the living room and lick their privates??

Cats know it's their job to keep us humble.

Why do my cats seek out the stainable carpet in my living room to throw up on? Why do they do it when company comes? Why not the easy-to-clean tile???

my cats do the same thing! They start off licking each other's heads and then before you know it, they are in an all out brawl

My dd's two sister cats do that. It's so hillarious!! I just crack up-they won't stop if I'm watching-it eventually turns into chase and fur flying :goodvibes

Sounds like some woman I know :cool1:

mine do that. don't you wish you could just speak cat and know what the issue was once in awhile? ;)

Speaking of acting weird when they think no one's watching--my parents have a rooster who chases his tail. Seriously. I've caught him doing it twice, and each time he notices that someone's watching, he stops immediately and kind of shuffles off behind the barn in an embarrassed-looking way. It's hilarious.

My cats do this. Funny thing is....I start to look at them motherly and tell them not to even think about it (fighting, that is). Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. :teeth:

I love when I catch my normally very elegant cat doing something something silly and she will sheepishly lick her paw & wash her face as if to say "That wasn't ME leaping around like a bleepin idiot chasing a whole lotta nothing; I've just been sitting here washing all the dirty off my face the whole time."

I have a 10 year old, very FAT, very lazy cat who occasionally gets the "sillies" and starts playing/wrestling with the other cat. The second she notices me watching, she stops and goes back to her "spot" on the couch.

It makes me wonder what they do while we're away.......

mine do that if one wnats the spot the other is laying in: starts out nice and then the other gets irritated...a fight starts and the one laying down gets up to fight - all of sudden cat 2 is no longer interested and lays down in that spot!!!! :goodvibes

I have 2 Maine Coon cats who are brothers. They're pretty large. I believe their conversation is as follows:

Meeko (older brother) to Dexter (younger brother): Did you wash behind your ears today?

Dexter: Yea I did. Did you?
Meeko: Of course I did.
Dexter. While let me check
Meeko: Go ahead and I'll check yours while you're at it.
Dexter: I don't care

As they're vigorously licking behind each others ears the conversation changes.

Meeko: You missed a spot
Dexter: So did you
Meeko: Listen smarty, I was cleaning behind my ears before you even had whiskers.
Dexter: Well, you'd think you'd know how by now then wouldn't you.
Meeko: I'll show you you little hairball.

Narrator: The ears go back. The eyes slit. The tail twitches. The dogs leave the room and I pop some popcorn popcorn:: .

Narrotor: Next several minutes there are 35 pounds of fur, claws and fangs rolling around in my Den.

Meeko: Have you had enough?
Dexter: Never. Unless of course you have?

Meeko: Let's break for a nap and we'll take it up later.
Dexter: OK

My two boy cats like to play together. When they notice you looking, the older one acts like he is being attacked. Then he wants me to rescue him. He thinks I don't know that he instigated it.

My girls do that too. I call it the kissy-fight! They start off kissy, then they fight. I don't yell unless they get too rough. If they start to growl or roll into the walls, its time to stop.

I have a cat who gets really mad when I tell her something she doesn't like & hisses at me. She'd never bite, but it is so funny when she hisses.
