Weather – Sunny, temps up to 86! :sunny:

Quite delighted that the kids didn’t awake till after 7. I was awake from before six, I made a quick call home to let them know we had arrived and then I snoozed for a bit, waiting for the kids to get up. Today we had a PS for Boma’s, but nothing else planned. We got dressed and headed out for our first sight of the Floridian sun……and it didn’t disappoint. It was lovely and warm already! Off to the food court for breakfast. Kids would eat free, all in $21 for the 4 of us. It was a buffet, quality was good, but the choice was a wee bit limited. The food court was following in the theme of those limes and oranges…..!

Breakfast over we headed out in the car. We wanted to check out Emerald Island, and have a look at the villa before we move there tomorrow. I couldn’t believe hoe beautiful Emerald Island looked. Very plush!! Ok, so what now. We decided to try Fantasia Gardens mini golf. We’d never done any mini golf at WDW before. Easy to find – well signposted! We arrived shortly after 10 – just in time for the opening. $10 for adults and $8 for kids.

It really was great fun. The kids loved it – especially the last few holes with all the water!!! I had a few hole-in-ones, but Tony said best to let the kids think they’ve won…..but personally I think he just couldn’t handle the defeat!!! :bitelip:

It was very hot though, and not a lot of shaded bits. Think we finished around 12. Christopher realised he hadn’t eaten for a few hours and demanded lunch. I wasn’t even remotely hungry, so we headed to Wal-Mart. Decided which one to go to……….the new one on US 27, just after you join it from 192, heading north. It would be the nearest one to the villa, so we thought we’d check it out. Think it was called Cagans Crossing. Sounded like something from The Flying Doctors…….oh no that was Cooper’s Crossing.
Anyway, back to business. Donuts. I fancied a nice donut. They did have a nice selection in the cabinet. I had a Blueberry square. It was delish. Anthony had plain, glazed donut. Christopher and Tony had something called a fluffy triangle, or something like that. Next stop, the Pringles aisle. I can never get over the range of flavours you can get……White Chedder, Jalapeno, Chilli Cheese, Sour Cream and Chedder!!! We stick to Sour Cream and Onion and try Chilli Cheese. Now they were very tasty!! After our quick snack in the Wal-mart parking lot, we head back to the hotel for some rest before our dinner at Boma’s. It’s only now heading back to the hotel we realise how HUGE it actually is!!! It really is in quite a good spot. Not ideal for non-drivers though as there is absolutely nothing within walking distance.

We leave at 4 to head to the AKL. I am really excited about getting to try Zebra Domes.

We park the car, and head towards the hotel entrance. I can’t believe they even pipe in animal sounds in the pathways towards the hotel!!! The Hotel looks absolutely awesome from the outside, but inside it was just breathtaking!!! We have loads of time to spare, so we head outside to look at the animals. Couldn’t have picked a better time, as it was feeding time……kids were really excited as they watched. I really liked the idea of having one of those rooms, looking out onto the Savannah…….maybe one day!! We head back inside and make our way down to Boma’s. The aroma was gorgeous – both from Boma’s and Jiko’s. We checked in and shown our table straight away. The choice of food was just fantastic. Anthony just had macaroni and fries. Christopher had macaroni, chicken strips and fries. I loved the Durban spiced chicken, nut roasted salmon, sirloin and the prime rib. We tried a lot of the soups and salads too – the only one I didn’t like was the Ambrosia one – tasted like Carnation Milk. Vegetables were very tasty – wedges a little spicy though. Then the best bit…..dessert!! Lots of mini desserts to choose from – I had Passion Fruit Meringue Pie, Chocolate Mousse Crunch, Pineapple Cheesecake, Chocolate Fudge Brownie and............a Zebra Dome!!!

It was heavenly. Left the Brownie because I really couldn’t have eaten any more.

The Zebra Dome was superb. Very soft – not what I expected at all!!! Tony had the Banana Bread Pudding, which he loved. Kids had cookies and Zebra Domes too!!! Cost was around $85 for us all plus tip. I thought this was excellent value for money, when you consider the choice and selection of food – not to mention the excellent quality. By far this was the best meal we’d had so far this trip………Apart for the fact it was the only meal we’d had!!!!! ;)

We were all tucked up in bed in the hotel by 8.30. We’d promised the kids some time in the pool before we moved to the villa. We watched some TV - mainly news about the ailing Pope in Rome, before nodding off to sleep.

Thanks for the trip report. I've just added another restaurant to the list for August!
