Hello everyone! Well, DFi and I just recently got engaged and now we are planning a little engagement party. I think we have settled on having the party at our local VFW hall as my grandfather can get us a great deal on the hall rental. I plan on ordering the food from one of the local catering places but I want some input on how much I should order. I'm pretty familar with the sizes of 'half' and 'full' trays but the estimates of how many people they will feed seems off.

I've gotten estimates of anywhere from 3-8 people for a half tray and 8-20 people for a full tray. I understand that its just an estimate but that is a lot of food per person! I was thinking of getting one or two pastas, a chicken, a green salad, maybe something else, and dessert. I would think that one tray of each (total of 4-5 trays) would be enough. Am I crazy? Should I order more?

All this planning :confused3

I'm no real help. I would ask the catering people how many folks a tray will feed. They should know that.

Good luck and Best Wishes! :)

In my very limited experience, those trays tend to feed more than they say they will.

However, I would hate to have a party and run out of food, so I might go with the suggestion of the caterer as to how much food to get.

I might also suggest to have more than one main entree', so that your guests will have some sort of choice.

Congratulations! And good luck with all the planning.

Denae
